I changed mine earlier this year and your right it is a real pain in the ass!
Did that price include the part? If so you burgled that!

I think if I had had the time and inclination (and used my 3.5 tonne axle stands so i could get the car higher up) I might have been able to do it, but ultimately a garage with the tools and experience was more appealing than me struggling all day with the risk i get it part way out, or break something else....

Alas not @Grumps - that was labour +VAT (albeit only an hour to remove and refit). Took it to a garage in Eastwood who did my starter motor and has serviced my previous daily (was a Renaultsport Megane, now a 5 door Astra family wagon...!). Good reliable garage though, so I'm happy taking my cars to them when i struggle...
