My old boss from years ago had a saying that, "you can always get by by paying!" But people like Lee, Trev, Gaz and all make it much easier.
Well done guys, almost there.

Tony.

A nice juicy update from Saturday. Managed to make real progress even with a torn rotator muscle. Luckily my apprentice was on fire cracking on with every instruction I gave her.

Most of the front hardware on. Just had one snapped bolt to fix.

quite common finding the abs sensor bolt snapping. M6 tap saves the day

Side complete.

On the back end it was given another coat of waxoil and rust treatment. Shocks and pins reinstalled, Mazza also fitted the new tank straps.

we also intended to hang the beam up out the way but found the drivers side pin bent, nothing that can’t be sorted with some heat.

my priority was to get the engine all buttoned up which was only just achieved. Only lambda sensors to plug back in.

I’ve left the front bumper off due to one of the horns being totally dead. Also the stores guys cracked on cleaning up the callipers and giving them a nice coat of paint.

end of the week and we’ve covered a huge amount of work. Diff number 4 will be posted next week fingers crossed the diff saga ends. Busy unit shut up till next weekend. Least we also got Gary’s Z4M fixed, it was that coupling on the driveshaft causing all that noise.

I trust it was the N/S/F ABS sensor bolt which was broken Lee?

Morning Zed Shedders. The aircon on my Z3 has never really worked and I finally decided to get it checked out. All parts worked correctly apart from the aircon fan. Apparently 8 weeks and £500 from BMW. My local garage suggested looking on eBay and sourcing the part myself. I can see them for £120 and then fitting on top. Any thoughts or comments on this approach would be appreciated.

we’re waiting for it to cool down again, it’s over 40* in the unit in the peak of the day. Very nearly there. We also test fitted the beam with a new pin, much better.

Not many people would be willing to spend what that must have cost tbh. All credit to the HQ team.

It's been one hell of a job so far, made more difficult with the heat so we've had to choose which days to work in the unit or wait for it to cool down.

My next job is getting the drive shafts modified to fit, we still haven't found a supplier with an off the shelf item.

Looks like a total refurb underneath, not long now till Mint gets his Z back. Always looked a nice clean Z3 from the outside, NOW!!!! The underside will at last match up. Many other people IMO would have scrapped it to be honest.
Well done the shed top team. :scorecard:
Yep, hindsight is great Roy.

What lines and stuff are you using for the steering? I need to refresh mine at some point. Had to fit a hose made up by a local company a few years back for the MOT and still not changed it, but it's doing the job. Want to get it all refreshed.

Great work going into this, one of the most involved so far.

Hope you don't think it wasn't worth it Mint (Dave) cos looking at that lovely bodywork etc from the outside it really is a very nice Z3, although when looking underneath it really looked like it'd had a lifetime at your fav seaside venue pulling your yacht up and down the jetty????
Now if it's up for sale:bag: we have a member likes to buy from the group??????????....................although it might be a wee bit expensive.;)o_O

I've just been looking at the build photos on my PC screen rather than my phone and ...wow, she'll be better than factory fresh when she's finished.
Thanks again ZedShed crew and helpers:thumbsup:
