Hello Everyone and thank you for letting me join your Forum. It seems a happy and friendly place!
I acquired a 2002 Sterling Grey Z3 3.0 Sport a short while ago with the aim of restoring it as a retirement project as best I could to OEM condition.
Although it was in generally good condition when I got it - 40k miles only, I initially had the underside steam cleaned and treated with Dinitrol. Last year, removed the four quarter panels, bumpers and doors, cleaned up and re-sprayed. Fitted new outer sills and had all the engine and transmission fluids changed.
This year, I am planning to have a go at the interior - seats and carpet out, do the seat bushes etc, dashboard lamps, electrics and some rattles (I hope!). No doubt will need some advice from the Forum along the way with those - I'm okay at anything mechanical and have done a lot of the work so far myself albeit with limited space to work both at home or the lock up where the car is stored. I'm not so confident with electrics though.
A suspension refresh is pencilled in for some point in the future as well.
Looking forward to participating in Forum discussions and meeting some of you at social events and Shed meetings.
I'm based in Kings Langley, south west Hertfordshire, near Hemel Hempstead.
A Happy and Healthy New Year to you all.
Peter

Thanks for the nice welcome Tony. I was familiar with your part of the world many years back. We lived in Saxilby for several years while I worked in Lincoln. Used to play squash in courts behind the Friendship Inn at Laughterton. The courts have sadly now gone but the best bit is that the pub is still there!

I don't immediately recall Clive, but we may well have crossed paths. Was in the early to mid 80s - so a fair time ago. Bob Bullivant was the pub landlord at the time IIRC. Happy days indeed!!

Hi and welcome from me, any pics to show off?
I know everyone likes photos - so here's a few from last year. It's put away for winter in the lock up now, not to see the light of day until April. Not long to wait now!!
It's Sterling Grey with black leather seats and black hood if anyone is wondering. All original. I would have preferred a Blue one but spent ages searching without any ticking enough of my boxes - so settled for this one - and I'm really pleased with it.
Incidentally, the cover is a genuine BMW Z3 one and was with the car when I bought it. It's no more than a dust cover really and certainly not robust enough or waterproof for use outside long term.
