Hello Everyone and thank you for letting me join your Forum. It seems a happy and friendly place!
I acquired a 2002 Sterling Grey Z3 3.0 Sport a short while ago with the aim of restoring it as a retirement project as best I could to OEM condition.
Although it was in generally good condition when I got it - 40k miles only, I initially had the underside steam cleaned and treated with Dinitrol. Last year, removed the four quarter panels, bumpers and doors, cleaned up and re-sprayed. Fitted new outer sills and had all the engine and transmission fluids changed.
This year, I am planning to have a go at the interior - seats and carpet out, do the seat bushes etc, dashboard lamps, electrics and some rattles (I hope!). No doubt will need some advice from the Forum along the way with those - I'm okay at anything mechanical and have done a lot of the work so far myself albeit with limited space to work both at home or the lock up where the car is stored. I'm not so confident with electrics though.
A suspension refresh is pencilled in for some point in the future as well.
Looking forward to participating in Forum discussions and meeting some of you at social events and Shed meetings.
I'm based in Kings Langley, south west Hertfordshire, near Hemel Hempstead.
A Happy and Healthy New Year to you all.
Peter
