Not seen any here in South Ayrshire but several around Glasgow now.
They are all fairly new but that one above has been there for a bit and is already on Streetview

Between these and the rise of the EV I’m glad my best days of motoring are behind me!

They've just put one in on my route to work. They will catch thousands out pratting around on their phones whilst driving.

My only complaint about speed cameras is that they are mostly located at places where the speed limit is not immediately obvious and where it is actually quite safe to be driving (a little) over the speed limit. In other words they allow the offence to take place and do very little to prevent it.

Did you know that if you're driving along an open road with no buildings or anything and then there's a stretch with street lights over the road then the speed limit of 30MPH is immediately in force even though there's no sign of any buildings and the street lights weren't lit so you couldn't see them anyway.

In places where it is unsafe to be driving too fast they put speed humps and other traffic calming measures to effectively prevent an offence from happening in the the first place.

In places where prevention is not necessary they place a camera to collect the most amount of revenue.

They've recently (5-6 weeks ago) lowered the speed limit on the A156 as you go into Lea, a suburb of Gainsborough, from 40 down to 30. Only now have they posted a sign saying the limit has been lowered, but this sign is 200M inside the limit, very high up on a street light pole, on the righthand side of the road. Just where you would be looking for it. If that's not hoping drivers will miss it I don't know what is.

So the war on the motorist continues - if they are in built up areas where the most risk is to pedestrians etc fair enough. But I'm sure they'll also be sited in other areas too.

I've never seen one outside a school or old folks home or in a residential street where kids play. There's speeders in those places but just not enough to earn a fortune in fines.

A590 from Ulverston to junction 36 on the M6 has just had average speed cameras installed and the speed has been dropped from 60 to 50 mph, the confusing bit there are different speed limit signs all along it so what the actual speed limit is i have no idea

Ironically I recently took a speed awareness course (shock horror) and one of the videos they used was going down that road and the old speed camera as it was. The instructor stopped the video and asked what we thought might be next...

I told him, round the bend there is a new estate, just across from a good pub/resturant. 50m further on theres a pub on the left and a good chippy, the shop on the corner is alright but mind out for the kebab shop, it isnt the best... avoid the donner.

he wasn't impressed
