@Nodzed Niall you asked earlier about nitrogen there is a lot of claims about it and its benefits and a lot of people will say in real world makes no odds.
What i would say is a lot of high end road cars come filled with nitrogen so does F1 and big aircraft .
The basic reasons why they all use it is that nitrogen molecules are larger and don't escape as easily ( better maintenance of correct pressure)
It doesn't expand and contract the same as air alone ( better maintenance of correct pressure)
But probably the main one is no water molecules ( if there is no water vapour in the tyre then better internal corrosion resistance and less expansion and contraction of the water molecules so better maintenance of correct pressure)
Now the main claim is that if the pressure is controlled better then tyre pressure wear and handling should theoretically be improved by some margin or other.
On a personal level all our depots have had nitro machines for a couple of years now so i have it in everything out of all the claims made the only one i could substantiate is the fact that we have to drain the main compressor every day and there is always water comes out the drain
The nitrogen machine nevers needs drained ever so based on that i would have to say at the very least nitrogen fill will have the benefit of no water vapour inside the tyre.

Stephen.

Stephen thanks, it makes sense regarding the water content and expansion, I see the nitrogen pumps in the tyre shops never really taken much notice, but I suppose it cant hurt depending on cost. Appreciate the info I'll have a read up on it:thumbsup:

With all this talk of tyre pressures,I thought I'd best go and check mine.
Removed the rear valve caps to discover they hadn't been replaced when the tyres were fitted,as I'd had to cut the old metal dust caps off with a dremel, leaving some cuts in the actual valves so pretty obvious .
Because of this I couldn't get the pressure gauge to seal to get a proper reading :meh:.
Yes all my fault I know, but the damage was done when the old tyres were still on,knowing that new tyres were imminant and the valves should be renewed at the same time.

So got the receipt out and new valves are listed on there :wideyed:.
After a phone call the offending garage, who were very good about it,I took the car to them and they promptly fitted new valves :).
Got home and checked the pressures.........40 psi :wacky::mad:......ffs !!
But at least I can easily adjust them now, which I have done.
No big shakes I know,BUT if I'd got a slow puncture in the middle of no where it would have been a problem as I couldn't have got tyre weld stuff in,or got the 12v compressor to get air in fast enough.
Rant over ;).

Steve
Can't beleive they didn't fit new valves Steve, the lads in our tyre bay remove the old tyre and then cut the old valves off as a matter of course. New tyre prices generally include new valve and balancing.

I know mate, why can't they all be as conciencious as you and @Stevo7682 ? A rhetorical question I know.
Just makes you wonder,as it was Sara that took the car in for the the new tyres,if they thought oh well she won't bother to look.
Without meaning to sound offensive of course.

It's possible mate, but more likely just someone not concentrating. Maybe realised after the tyre was inflated and couldn't be arsed to take it off the rim again. You'll never know but you'll check next time I bet.

Well dave i originally came on this thread to post a comment on your tyre choice but thread was kinda on the move then so here i am.
Hankook was a tyre you only used to really see on things like Kia but their new products have good reviews and are more commonly see as new fitment to fords and vauxhall amongst others whereas beforehand you would have only seen one of tbe big 6 fitted ( Goodyear pirelli etc) as new definitely a big player in the upper mid range market

Agreed Steve, when I was looking at them, it's what helped me decide. Also the fact that I've been very pleased with them on our Ix35:thumbsup:

Very emotive subject tyres  so many options, experiences and opinions. We will never decide on the best option that's for sure.
