Thanks FrankieWelcome to the forum from the other side of the pond. A beautiful car! Good thing you didn't see my movie post with the dogs. I think you would have passed out cold. Frankie
That is one of the best stories I've heard in a long time. After all those beers maybe it was a good thing the tires were late?? Enjoy the car and the craziness the forum is known for.. JIMThanks for the welcome Jim - there is actually more to the story on the purchase of the ///M.
As I mentioned, I flew up to Aberdeen to buy the car, which was an event in itself as I am terrified of flying!!
It was only an hours flight, but I went to the Doc's to get some tablets to calm me down.
I managed to get through it by talking 3 tablets instead of one.
When I got to Scotland I was met by the seller - Rob, who had just bought a stunning Carerra 4S.
After we had sorted the paper work I followed Rob back south (Me in the M, Rob in his Porsche) with a little detour taking in Braemar and the stunning Scottish hills.
As we neared the skiing slopes at Braemar, my tyre pressure warning light came on. We pulled into the cafe car park where I found I had a rear offside side wall puncture!
Luckily I pay into a recovery company and about an hour later the M was loaded onto the truck and driven to Perth.
The recovery company tried to locate a spare Michelin for me, but none could be located. In fact they were unable to locate ANY tyres that would fit the car.
In the end 2 Hankooks were located from miles away, but it would mean an overnight stay in Perth!.
I ended up paying £94 for a room at the holiday Inn as the tyres would not arrive until 11.00 am Thursday morning.
So I ended up billy no mates with a curry & eleventeen pints at the pub next door to the holiday inn
I rang the recovery company at 11 o'clock & was told the tyre would not now arrive until after 2.00 pm (2:45 they arrived)
So after all the drama I finally left Perth at! 3.30 pm with my pocket some £540 lighter........ She's worth it though lads
not to far for a little get together when the weather breaksCheers Googy - No warmer down the road from you in Halifax!
