Hi, I am a new member and have just purchased a Z3 with a 1.9 engine. First thoughts are that I agree with reviews about the car, the engine is underpowered. But as I only intend to use the car to potter around country lanes with the hood down, it is sufficient for me and also more economical. I have owned more powerful cars in the past but now are of a age to enjoy sedate motoring.
Your quote: ".............but now are of a age to enjoy sedate motoring."
So you've turned 30. SO WHAT............"
Welcome to the forum from the other side of the pond. Glad to have you with us. Got a '96 1.9 myself and love it. Frankie

I wonder if all the formula 1 guys know that they are driving Doris box cars?. My boss at work said he would not have a Z3 auto, so I took him out for a nice sedate run and changed his mind. You see, He had never experienced one and so believed all the crap that you hear.;)

Tony.

I have tidied this thread up. I will ask again for people to respect welcome threads and keep them to the original subject. You have other sections available for irrelevant "banter", please use them.

Also added Neil to the M44 Massive group ;)

Welcome Neil :welcome:
As you can gather there's lots of banter on here albeit some of it a bit wayward but please don't let that put you off it is an absolutely fantastic place to gain invaluable knowledge about your car and meet some great people who share the same passion for zeds. I hope you enjoy many years of zeding, remember a zed is for life not just for Christmas. ;)

Well that's it from me fellas, I can understand removing abusive or offensive banter from threads & the mods have a difficult job at times.
However setting up separate threads for 'irrelevant banter' that develops from an original post is just too prescriptive for my tastes, & is not what real life banter is about.

Mods please remove my details from the forum.

Cheers fellas

Sorry Neil, sometimes us old guys get to tram lining in our posts and get sideways. Thankfully the Mods reel us into reality again. Please don't let it throw you off from the knowledge and intellect of the Zed this forum has to offer. Good luck and don't be shy about asking for assistance no matter how small the problem. JIM

He was just being kind to you Tony. Yes F1 jockeys do have Doris boxes, but they have so many other things to worry about, settings, fuel rates, tyres, radio etc. etc. the poor things don't want to have to actually work a manual gearbox and heel and toe!.............. F1 in the 50's, 60's and 70's was so much purer. Drivers only had pit boards, plus their own judgement, driving skill and balls with them in the car. It was much more of a real drivers championship back then. Also the cars sounded glorious, a 3 litre V12 Ferrari made the hairs on the back of my neck stand to attention. I still have to get my fixes for this on you tube. Check out the Shell Ferrari advert....In fact I'm going to do it again right now!..................... Anyone miss me?

Cheers,

Bonzo.

If you're new there's an introduce yourself thread where you can tell everyone all about yourself and your car and add pics to your post. Also take a look through the rules and reg section as well as the rest of the menu to see what is available to members!
