Base oil prices are increasing yet again, if you’re planning on doing oil changes before winter be an idea to buy now. From what I read/ updates I’ve been sent, this will continue, one of the main refineries is expected to be out of action until early/mid ‘27.

?
The Shell plant in Quatar is the worlds largest gtl plant which produces a large %age of the worlds lighter base oils, it was hit in the March missile attacks. It’s not coming back online until early/mid ‘27. Summer demand always ramps prices up anyway, this time they’re unlikely to drop end of Autumn/Winter.

With multiple cars we buy 5/30 synthetic in 20L tubs, £48 delivered last year, £58 in April, projected to be £78-88 by September. I need 3 different grades, so now I have to find somewhere to put 3x20L drums.

Yes, that was Carlube Triple R C2/C3, LL04 Full Synthetic, currently £75 delivered.
I’ve never been an oil snob, I go by the grade not slick advertising, there are so few refineries it’s the same oil, just a different additive package, maybe a different dye.
Just bought 40L from Mog Lubricants (Midland Oil Group) on eBay also C2/C3 and LL04. Five cars, that should get us to May.

20L @ £62.95 =£3.15/L delivered.

Thanks for the heads-up. Looks like it might be worth stocking up on a couple of jugs if you already know what oil your Z takes. Oil has a long shelf life if stored properly.

At current exchange rates and prices I worked out that a barrel of crude is around £0.83 a litre today.
So maybe if I buy it by the barrel I could do 27 oil changes (based on 6 litres a change) for around £6 a go for about half a century. Bargain!
