I think a buffet would work well and give folks more chance to mix as you saidHad a brief meeting with @Twin Turbo this evening to throw some ideas about. I'm anticipating that this event will be well attended and we may even have to cap the number of cars but we'll see how things play out.
I'm concerned about putting so much faith in a venue to feed the potential numbers we could have and I don't want the day delayed.
Sooooooo.... I was considering having a buffet put on for us for lunch. Less chance of a kitchen cock-up slowing us down and also give folk more time to move about and socialise. I know I've been to events with some members who I've not even managed to hold a proper conversation with.
This would mean a set price for all but I think we can make it work. What are people's thoughts?
They coped extremely well at The White Swan mate and the food was the bestI agree Steve, to be honest I pushed the limit at the White Swan 2 weeks ago, luckily there were only a few locals in on that lunchtime so we got away with it. Sadly looks as though we will miss this one as we will be over here on that weekend.
Tony.
Carvery is a good shout. I only worried that any Carvery that has over 30 parking spaces on a Sunday may not be great. I could always close a section of the car park though....Buffet sounds a good idea or you might like to think about a carvery. Like the buffet you don't have to take orders for different meals, make sure people get what they ordered or wait to get served. It's good to make life simple, especially for simple people like me.Decisions !
Lesson learnt after my cruise Mac. Cap your numbers and pick your food venue carefully. I had several conversations with the eatery I choose and they made a right hash of it. @Grumpy , I'm considering capping at 30. I've got support from my local owners club who are turning out to help run it. I've also had a kind offer from @Bozzy who is very local to me so could run 3 groups if needed. Ambitious for my first try but I thibk we can pull it off.Lesson learnt after my cruise Mac. With 30 I'd advise 3 groups. More than 10 per group causes bother mate. Looking forward to it.
I agree. Probably one "driver focussed" group and two "touring" groups. With 30 I'd advise 3 groups. More than 10 per group causes bother mate. Looking forward to it.
