@DaveP will need to have a word with Ian. Final fettling and it will soon be ready for a splash of Dulux.
Dulux? You getting it mixed and matched at B&Q? ;)=)) Looking forward to seeing it painted.

Make sure it gets a couple of coats of ReFace 2k primer/filler, very important on a GRP car. It is ideal for GRP as it helps stop any shrinkage, especially where GRP and filler meet.
It can be applied with a small gloss roller, the idea is to get it on nice and thickly and then flat it back.

@DaveP Can you mention this as well, please?

Must be ready by now, it was leaving home at the beginning of June, nearly 7 months ago!

With your wiring diagrams posted previously, do you have any details on where the wires from the Z3 attach to the ETB instruments?

What would be useful would be something like.........
blue plug...Pin number.......red/green wire to...........ETB instrument........ETB wire colour
white plug...Pin number......red/blue wire to...........ETB instrument........ETB wire colour

This will take me a bit of time, as I didn't go straight from the plugs. I cut the wires at the plugs and treated the wire as a wire, rather than a location on the plug.

Good news is that I am sat in an office all weekend with not a lot to do - so this will be my project for the weekend .

Good man!
Would make a great sticky for future builders, by taking the wires from the plugs or cutting them at the plugs would make it much easier for builders to follow. Hunting down the wires at different locations is a task in itself.

But you haven't answered the all-important question!!!

Nor do they :banghead: .

To be fair, the sooner I get it back, the sooner I'll have to pay for it. It will probably be SORN'd for a while anyway. I'd like it for March, so I can check it over and be ready to hit the road on April Fools' Day .:racecar:. It still needs an Inspection 2 service, which takes about a week.

With hindsight, I would rather have soldered wires on to the wires at the connectors (much like Scotchloks), rather than cut them. This would have allowed a spare Z3 console to be plugged into the connectors. It would allow you to check mileage, service interval and also to help with any ETB instrument problems.

March! That's almost a year, you are much more patient than me.

I like the idea of piggybacking the new wire to the existing wires so that the existing dash can be plugged in if needs be. Best of both worlds, the dash plugs will reach through the open door to rest on the bonnet which makes soldering easier than trying to do it in the dash itself.

Brilliant that will really help future builders.
Thanks for taking the time and effort to write and post it up.

I just wish someone did a Daimler SP250 kit, the Daimler Dart, I'd be buying a 3.0 or M like a shot to convert. It's been my most wanted car since they first came out (shows how old I am). Reasonable ones are in the £40k+ range now and really good ones over £50K. OK I'm not a big fan of one car pretending to be something else, but the Daimler really is beautiful so I wouldn't mind being a bit hypocritical
Daimler Dart kit would be fun

Always worth putting up progress reports and photos as other builders will post tips and ideas. Not very good to be given a brilliant idea after it has been painted and you can't do anything about it.

On yours, I always wonder how a coupe side window would look as it doesn't have the rounded tail edge.
Would the Grassbanks rear window work on it?
