Doors on Ebay seem to be between £100 and £200 each. If you find one in colour then you are laughing.

I agree with finding doors, I found one for £128 seller said it was rust free but had a small dent, so I bought it and then was told that he found a small rust area on bottom of door, Cancelled the order and in all fairness he immediately refunded my money, I intend to do a DIY repair on the doors, but continue to look for the right doors over the next month or so.

I can imagine it's going to happen to them all, it's just in the design, there is no DIY for it as it will soon come back, for those that's not showing signs of it yet I would recommend getting a good dose of wax oil in there

Going to see what extent it has rusted by removing the paint hopefully the rust is localised. And if its just spots of rust, will drill the rust out fill with weld and get the grinder out, had success with this type of repair in the past where the rust is in spots, drill the rust out use an anti oxidiser on the bare metal, and see what happens.

Recently had both doors painted along with both sides but not because of rust just dents. Interesting to see all the problems as i think mine is the oldest Z4 on here.

I have no corrosion on the doors, maybe cos I live in midlands, away from sea. however, I think best option is not to fix yours, but to get good replacement parts from salvage yard. I've spent most part of my life on Baltics, where climate is wet and salty. I know a lot about corrosion on cars. When it bubbles on outside - it means that inside it is totally rotten. So, search for doors in your colour from breakers, when you you source new ones just pour 50-70ml of transoil inside the doors, and put them on. You'll be safe for next 10 years.

Car to good to get rid of, so have bitten the bullet, have got rid of the rust problem on doors by replacing them with second hand rust free doors, swapping the doors over was a breeze, 4 Bolts/Nuts to remove 1 for electrical connection, 1 for door strap and 2 on the door, door then just lifts off. How easy was that!.

Just come back from the sprayers and been quoted £1,500 for a full respray (Mates Rates friend of a friend) normally he would charge £2200. So getting it booked in ASAP (as soon as I have funds available which will hopefully will be next month or this month if I can persuade the missus to sub me) feeling a lot better now, was going to see about getting it wrapped but cost would be about the same, so going with a re spray.

Good price for a full respray Jim. Ours cost 2700
What Colour Black is it, sapphire or carbon
As you will probably find there are various levels of fleck and the ones that are quoted on resprays are not the depth of colour used originally.
When ours was done he showed me the paint mixed and sprayed on a small piece of metal but you could tell the fleck was not there, so just make sure you get the fleck right if its Sapphire or it will look quite dull

Had a second opinion, another mate has a guy he has been using for years for spraying, took the car down to let him see it yesterday, (not sure what he used on it but went over the car with some sort of electronic device, paint thickness or colour match? ) after examining the car for half an hour he told me that the car did not need a full re-spray as the majority of it was goods so he is going to do the front bumper (Stone Chips), both doors and a rear quarter panel, he is then going to machine polish the car, he has been doing this for 45 years and worked with various high end car dealers, including Porsche spraying cars, He said that most of the car just needs freshening up with a full machine polish, not going to tell you how much, but he charges £250 for a machine polish alone. Car is booked in for 5th October (earliest he could get me in as he is swamped at the moment) Getting the wheels re furbished just waiting for some quotes, and then seats re dyed and conditioned, and thinking of getting the interior freshened up by wrapping or aqua printing the door handles centre console and maybe the dashboard in Silver Carbon.

It will of been a paint depth gauge, so he can see how much he can cut the paint back and polish imperfections out, i can imagine the cost as full 3 stage polishing and paint correction is not cheap
