If your callipers are as good condition as on my E89 (11plate) Brillo pads and brake cleaner will clean them up. Any paint colour is your personal choice.

I parked next to a porsche last week with acid green calipers, they looked great. A while ago I bought some acid green paint for my calipers but I haven't had time to do them yet. The porsche calipers looked massive compared to mine 
I painted mine plain old black, I thought a colour would be a bit too blingy with these wheels. Second guessing myself now though..
