Replacement Audio Head Unit?

Whilst the unit pictured above looks quite stock, the main display is obviously the wrong colour.
Also I have found that aftermarket units do not power the amp if you have the HK audio setup, and as a result sound a bit naff.

My own car was fitted with a DAB sony unit when I bought it, which sounded rubbish, struggled to hold onto DAB signal and also looked very out of place. So I refitted an OEM BMW unit (made by Blaupunkt) and added a bluetooth module to it - I stream DAB stations from my phone and it looks and sounds a LOT better.

Personally, stick with a genuine original unit every time and add bluetooth.

I had the same issue with a Japanese import Jag XJ, from memory the FM frequencies were at the lower end of the scale say 84-88 which is probably why you can only get radio 2. I am pretty sure I hooked it up to the Jaguar software and had the option to move it to European stations and never had a problem after that. The question is whether it is cheaper to replace it or get someone in the know to hook it up to BMW software?
