Had a guy who was recommended by a good mate come and look at the Imola, and I have seen his work which is great, he said if I strip it he would do it for 2k thought that was a fair price as the stripping is time consuming but I have time. Said he would make it beautiful for me :) To be fair he insisted in to coming to see it first (2 others were indifferent and didn't really seem to interested just said yeh we can spray it) so hopefully I have chosen the right guy? @Sean d ???
Sounds a fair price pal, I would be in a similar ball park.

The problem is with older cars guys is you don't know whats underneath, the only true way to guarantee a job is to strip it back to bare metal but it makes it cost prohibitive but to be honest its the only way to do classics,

Difficult to say really pal as on jobs like this we charge hourly rate, over the years we have done a number of e-types for a guy and he has them bead blasted before he brings them, we won't strip cars anymore as its a bloody awful job and best left to those that do it for a living, I would think if a stripped Z came into our shop it wouldn't be any more then you are paying but on jobs like this we don't give priority and drop on it when we are quiet, however we only charge £25 per hour for them.

Yep thats exactly what my guy said, but he said the paint work seemed in very good order (apart from the two different shades) and he was confident he wasn't going to find much nasty, but has warned me if he finds anything really bad we will need to have a discussion :( but as I said he was very confident it seemed in order. I'll be getting 2 new sills for him as the ends are a bit naff so thats that bit sorted, he seemed to think it would be OK. :nailbiting::nailbiting:

When I got mine it had only had the bonnet and drivers door painted, the rest was original, the bonnet had a really bad repair so I corrected it rather then strip it, a move I have lived to regret as it it constantly sinking, I have give up polishing it now

I'm sure a man of your talents could find fit and paint a bonnet with your eyes closed

Before you commit to that Andy, have you factored in the visit to Halfords to re-stock the necessary Autoglym products

This picture was taken just before Andy's local Halfords closed tonight .
Choas ensued after word got out that Andy would have to visit to stock up on Autoglym products .

Police were warning people to stay away from the area :whistle::whistle:
Shares in Autoglym have since plummeted after they issued a profit warning due to widespread stock shortages across a large part of the NW due to wholesale panic buying.
Reports refer to an Andy muttering "Own use" and "Z3". Police are baffled by these clues, no idea what it means but are polishing their act on this kind of crime.;)

Yes I know - :offtopic:

Update, phone call from the C-in-C, Bella is full on naked and job well underway. Rear wings were a bit of a mess on the inside but could be salvaged but looking long term two new ones being fitted. Front bumper looks like the Road to Basrah so given the go-ahead to go all the way back. A full set of photos on a USB stick will be provided of the Job, which is nice.

All the body shop guys and mechanics were drooling over my baby and took the apprentice round, "this is what a 20 year old car should look like son, outstanding!"
:rally: :scorecard: :drinks:

Now that does please me as it tells me I have a solid motor for the next 20/30 years, happy days. Oh, is it 28th October yet ? :arghh:
