Back from the mechanic today with a full 12 month non-advisory MOT certificate

There was an initial failure due to emissions limits but all resolved with the fitting of a new type approved catalytic converter. Apparently although the previous one was only 2 years old and had covered just 2,800 miles it wasn't type approved and had consequently failed.

Good news Garrie.
Problem with M44 aftermarket cats is they only need to be Euro 2 ( non type approved) as euro 3 type approved regulations dont kick in till 2001.
So they tend to be cheap rubbish amazing its lasted 2 yrs.
If your new downpipe has a 103r type approved cat fitted then should perform and last better i have type approved one fitted to Lynne's m44 made through 2 mot with no issues smells so much better now in day to day use no longer has that rich mixture smell it used to have.
Stephen.

To be honest I put all those miles on it myself since buying it at the beginning of the year so to say it lasted 2 years is probably stretching it a bit

At least it has 12 months ticket on it. Happy days.

However, don't be surprised if you end up running the emissions gauntlet next year. 😔

I'm sure I remember you waving madly at my rear view mirror once from the driving seat of a Chrysler type people mover, coming back from Clumber / Thoresby ?

I don't know how you do it mate, but healthy Respect !

Yes still got the Grand Voyager - had that 12 years now and it's been a great car. With a need to move 4 kids and 2 dogs about there really is nothing to compare

Can't you work it out from the information provided?

The Z3, the 9-3 (only the red one), the Model 3 and the Grand Voyager - that last one kind of spoiled the flow didn't it (if only it was a mark III & not a mark IV) =))
