Excellent, thank you mate. I assume that it's touch screen operation too. You happy with it?

Tony.
Yes Tony, it's touch screen and pretty easy to use, and yes it's does what I need it to do. I just put the post code in, press "Set as destination" and I'm good to go

When I first bought it I thought I'd been "done" by Del Boy as the instructions were given by a French bird, she sounded sexy as hell but I hadn't got a Scooby what she was saying =))

It wasn't until our boy told me I could change it to English that I got it sorted.

It was great though driving round listening to a sexy French bird while I got lost =))

I'm sure you're a very nice man mate, but a Lincolnshire drawl is no match for a French bird =))

Or did you mean something else

Definitely something else mate, like getting lost listening to a sexy French bird.=)) Mind you, when I worked for a garage in Gainsborough many years ago, the head office was in Lincoln and the lady in the office there, when ever you spoke to her sounded very young and sexy too, trouble was once you met her she wasn't.:(=)) I think a little OT now.;)

Tony.

Yep, people don't plan a rout any more, that's the best part for me, study a map before hand.
They get in the car, press a tit and follow the sexy French voice, turn left and drive into a canal...

been looking at these cheapo ebay sat navs, there cheaper than buying maps from tomtom and they do alot more too, now heres the thing - i have a stereo which plays both sd card or usb (no cd player) so question is this if these cheap satnavs have mp3 player built in is it possible to connect them to my stereo, also what if i connected my dash cam to it too, now thats got me thinking i wonder if you can buy them complete with cam as most tablets have cams anyway.

I use both to be fair. When we set up the Derbyshire cruise last year I spent ages looking at the atlas and confirming it up with the sat nav. When we travel in France we always use the atlas. Jue reads it alongside having the sat nav running.
Just a thought. Isn't this thread about Gaz getting a new sat nav!

As already said earlier Jason a lot of my truck driving mates have these cheaper tablet ones and do rate them for the money. And you get a bigger screen to boot! Wonder if itinerary planning is available on any?

Snow! Thinking about it they are in essence tablets so maybe you could put the "my route app" on it? I'm not technically minded so someone would need to look into it properly. If we can find this is the case we may be able to do a block buy and get some discount? I'd have one for what it would cost.

ok, been having a dig around, it seems there are more options than i thought, there is the app option too, so if you have a phone with a larger screen then hey you dont need a stand alone sat nav, and as apps progress it will soon take over from the likes of tomtom. you need to be carfull here though as some if not all the free apps rely on a data connection, while others like the copilot premium (£19) uses gps and will allow you to save maps which in turn frees you from a data conection, even google maps do one too - read here - http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/feature/google-android/5-best-android-satnav-apps-3505720/
the cheap ebay tablet type do get some poor reviews with crashy software and not so responsive screens, not what you want while driving, but the apps may be the answer especially on a phone, this way you wont be be leaving you nav device in the car to get nicked as its also your phone, good idea.

To be honest I use Navigon, for the iphone real time traffic + camera alerts and realistic estimated time of arrival. It stores the map locally and is far better than my experience of TOMTOM.

http://www.navigon.com/portal/us/produkte/navigationssoftware/mobile_navigator_iphone_us.html

Other phone satnav is Waze brother in law "taxi driver swears by it" and its free and uses it for airport runs.

Other option is google maps - as you now can download local maps to your phone - so no issues if you lose internet.

I am more than happy to demonstrate my satnav and speed camera systems - on the 24th
