That's good to know Mike as the rear window is only a year old.
It did not even have any protection either, blanket, etc.
When the car got wrecked and stood parked up for months outside, without the hardtop on. while I decided what to do with it, that is when the stitching started to deteriorate around the rear window but we are talking about the original Oct 96 soft top.

They look nice with the hard top. I've only used mine once to go to the New Forrest last winter as it forecast rain I thought it was a wise move, but the sun came out and blue sky's :( had to drive around all day with it on. Its not been near the car since ;)

Bought my Z with the hardtop on, previous owner had never taken it off (so where's the "wimp" emoji, eh?) once it stopped raining after I got home it came off, put in its bag, and has been dangling from a shed roof ever since, four and a half years. It's just too nice to go topless, even in winter. Heater and woolly hat on etc.

If it's for fun use keep it off Steve. If for commuting (which I know you don't) then on when it gets dark cold and 'orrible I've been using mine as a daily for the last 4 months (must get me van sorted) and most mornings when I've turned off the main drag onto the cross country section the top gets dropped. Still some nice weather about and won't contemplate sticking my lid on til the clocks change and it's dark both ends of the daily drive. Tops were down last Boxing Day cruise weren't they? You have to stick it on now and then just for the enjoyment of the different look, like having another car!

I remember buying the '51 plate zed with hard top last July (just to get the hard top and fitting kit off it) and driving it back from Northants. Was a nice day and it was an absolute mare not being able to drop the top - felt really cheated !

That's the problem,if we're away in the zed with it on, we're stuck with it. Not so bad to remove it at home on a dry day for a run out, as long as there's someone to help lift it off.

Been for a little drive and I have to say it's like driving an everyday motor with it on.
Although I like how it looks, I think I'll be taking it off.
What do you all reckon ?.

Steve.
Really looks first rate................keep it on for the winter you'll know when to take it off...................Frankie
