When you do your inspection it worth taking the arch liners out for a good clean plus there’s a small cover that conceals a portion of the brake line that’s worth checking as well.
Thanks for the tip! I doubt I would've seen that. 👍

Ok....newbie question alert!
What is this and is there a cover missing?

Perhaps I should just pre-qualify all my questions going forward.....
I have never owned or even looked under the bonnet of any BMW before in 40 years of car ownership! So if I seem a bit clueless, it's because I am! 😁

It's not the OBD port; that's on the off side. Mine is as picture, doesn't have a cover. Think it's for the autobox stuff (mine is manual) when fitted, but have never been able to determine positively.

Yep....Ianmc, OBD port on opposite side. Actually my connector arrived today, just waiting for the 110+ to arrive hopefully tomorrow.
I was just curious if that bit in the photo, (thats it's new name btw!), required some sort of boot but it looks to be "solid". 👍

And...👍 to a fellow newbie Jimbob_od 😊

You live in one of my favourite spots in the UK, when is the town going to be renamed? Grange over Grass is what it should be now. I remember watching the Duke of Edinburgh carriage driving across the bay in 1977? and the Scotsman and Mallard using the track.

Hiya David. Yeah, it's a pretty spot. Shame about the grass. :)
Mother in laws house looks straight out over the bay to Arnside Knott. Quite the view. Obviously, the train line is visable too and it's quite something to see the old steam trains when they get the odd run out.
I too saw the Duke, mid/late 80s I think and dear old Cedric Robinson, (sadly gone now), was a lovely chap and, I'm happy to say, a friend.

Yep, there's worse places to be.
Now if it would just stop raining! :D
