Ca you "provisionally" add Damian and I to this event?? I say provisionally as we get married at the end of march and don't know when we will be going on our honeymoon. What is the latest you will need a definite answer from us?

@EmmaDamian I am sure I can squeeze a local in. It is not being run as groups so its follow a map or sat nav. Means people are free to stop if they wish to take photographs etc. Will be an interesting day.

A date change due to Highways England doing the next phase of bridge works on the M27. Which means gridlock for the area.

Revised date is the 12th May 2019.

Ok Folks.. As per the last years the 2019 New Forest run will be 12th May due to the Bank Holidays and School Holidays and now the engineering works. The New Forest will be busy weekends before and weekends after so lets hope a many as possible can make this one.

I will not be running groups, please read the following link as it will be easier to understand.

https://zroadster.org/threads/general-thread-about-my-events-in-2019.25526/

The route once finalised will be posted below and will be made available on my-route too.

The starting point will be the Service area at the bottom of the A36 at Ower. It has plenty of parking and makes for a great starting point.

Although I will not be running groups, I will need an idea of numbers.

8th April 2019 UPDATE

Route drive check finalised with @Mr C yesterday and pleased to say it was a nice day for it too.

Route is now live on myrouteapp.com under New Forest 2019 Final Route.

Meeting at 10am.

Leaving from 10.30 at the normal meeting place of Ower Services botton of the A36 no 1 on the plan. The run takes us up the A36 and then turning left to Normansland passed The Lamb PH and up into the high parts of the forest. The turning right at the main junction before heading towards Fordingbridge. As you near Fordingbridge you will see signs for the turning on the left for Ringwood, heading South. Join the main road and head towards Fordingbridge. Further down this road you will see signs for Linwood. Take the left turning and follow the road, you will go over a grate and then a humpback bridge. Turn left at the junction up into the forest again and follow the road for Linwood. Please note that we are not doing the Bolderwood Ornamental Drive, you can if you wish. which will mean you miss position 9 and head straight over at the end onto Rhinefield. I would though advise that its tight and the drop offs at the side of another car comes towards you could either damage you alloy and in extreme cases rip your tyre. Hence missing it off the route. We follow the road and then head towards A35 turning right onto it heading south west. Further along we turn into Rhinefield and head for White Plains parking area for a comfort break and ice cream.

We then head out towards Brokenhurst and skirt the village. Heading through the countryside after a hill we turn left and follow the road. At the end we do a Zig Zag over the main carriageway and head towards the main road turning right at the end and heading down towards Lymington. Follow the signs for Beaulieu and then head through heading for Exbury Gardens. You will turn right and then right again and follow this road all the way to Lepe Country Park, along the coast and round to the left, up the hill and right into he car park. It will be fun finding a parking space as the forest is always busy. If Need be I would suggest that some go back as far as they can safely do and other park in front.

On a further note. Parking is payable at Lepe but not at White Plains. The cafe at lepe serves hot drinks and food. If some people would like to consider either heading back to Lymington, there is on route a great pub called The Walhampton Arms and also in Lymington itself a very good chip shop and Costa Coffee. Choices Choices.

Look forward to seeing you all on the day. Please remember, that this is a non group run. You are free to stop where you feel like and take photographs and grab a drink or ice cream. It is about having fun and enjoying ourselves. Plenty to see and do.

Looks like a great route! Almost passes my house (just before we head over toward Linwood) so I know a lot of these roads well! The road from Blashford through to the A31 underpass should be fun - those with lowered zeds beware: the sides of the road are not forgiving! You'll more than likely need to pull to the side to allow head-to-head traffic to pass, as the road is mainly single file, but they are putting in little passing bays (@pgunter have they finished those passing bays yet or still some in construction?). I'll probably head back through Lymington on my way back at the end, if anyone unfamiliar with the area wants to follow.

I've just looked to see if there's any alternatives and it's definitely the most scenic way through. I'll just be careful with my sump! :)

We got through there ok yesterday and we are not in groups so shouldn’t be a problem, @pgunter is in charge and trust him as he’s organised many runs and they have all been good

Yup, it's cool I'm looking forward to it! Might have to notify a few photographer friends and get them to head out with their cameras at strategic locations. :snaphappy:

One of the reasons I am not doing groups. It’s a nightmare keeping in formation without holding other road users up. The new lay-by system took a little while to get through with the odd one not wanting to stop. But overall that run is as good as it gets. Avoided the nasty junction in Brockenhurst too as looking over your shoulder to pull out into fast traffic is never the best.

Agreed, it's a damn good route! It should be a great day on the roads!
