Whereabouts in the forest do you live? I'll keep an eye out for your zed!Paul
Likewise I live in the forest too so if you need any help just shout
@pgunterCa you "provisionally" add Damian and I to this event?? I say provisionally as we get married at the end of march and don't know when we will be going on our honeymoon. What is the latest you will need a definite answer from us?
A date change due to Highways England doing the next phase of bridge works on the M27. Which means gridlock for the area.
Revised date is the 12th May 2019.
Ok Folks.. As per the last years the 2019 New Forest run will be 12th May due to the Bank Holidays and School Holidays and now the engineering works. The New Forest will be busy weekends before and weekends after so lets hope a many as possible can make this one.
I will not be running groups, please read the following link as it will be easier to understand.
https://zroadster.org/threads/general-thread-about-my-events-in-2019.25526/
The route once finalised will be posted below and will be made available on my-route too.
The starting point will be the Service area at the bottom of the A36 at Ower. It has plenty of parking and makes for a great starting point.
Although I will not be running groups, I will need an idea of numbers.

Yes we drove passed yesterday not good for big groups thoLooks like a great route! Almost passes my house (just before we head over toward Linwood) so I know a lot of these roads well! The road from Blashford through to the A31 underpass should be fun - those with lowered zeds beware: the sides of the road are not forgiving! You'll more than likely need to pull to the side to allow head-to-head traffic to pass, as the road is mainly single file, but they are putting in little passing bays (@pgunter have they finished those passing bays yet or still some in construction?). I'll probably head back through Lymington on my way back at the end, if anyone unfamiliar with the area wants to follow.
I've just looked to see if there's any alternatives and it's definitely the most scenic way through. I'll just be careful with my sump!Yes we drove passed yesterday not good for big groups tho
We got through there ok yesterday and we are not in groups so shouldn’t be a problem, @pgunter is in charge and trust him as he’s organised many runs and they have all been goodI've just looked to see if there's any alternatives and it's definitely the most scenic way through. Yup, it's cool I'm looking forward to it! Might have to notify a few photographer friends and get them to head out with their cameras at strategic locations. We got through there ok yesterday and we are not in groups so shouldn’t be a problem, @pgunter is in charge and trust him as he’s organised many runs and they have all been good
Agreed, it's a damn good route! It should be a great day on the roads! One of the reasons I am not doing groups. It’s a nightmare keeping in formation without holding other road users up. The new lay-by system took a little while to get through with the odd one not wanting to stop. But overall that run is as good as it gets. Avoided the nasty junction in Brockenhurst too as looking over your shoulder to pull out into fast traffic is never the best.
