Update. The Safari OOp North.
Passport - check, body armour - check, Phrase book - check, etc.
This morning, I had a traumatic journey by train (3) the first through train was cancelled due to bad weather at Dawlish, the second was also cancelled due to having a fire! I was offered a seat in a taxi to Exeter, to join a train there, But I explained that I was not sharing a cab all that way with the most obnoxious harridan you could meet, she complained bitterly and loudly about everything, I had to put her right when she called I.K. Brunel a clown!!! @ 5 minutes after she left, a train arrived, Karma.
I digress,
The car is a 2.2 sports, blue, with electric roof, 02 reg. with a price under £2500, I looked at lots of pictures, had many assurances, the seller seems knowledgeable and honest, so worth a look, I still got a return train ticket, just in case!
The car was everything I hoped it would be, the seller put it through the MOT earlier this week, it indeed has a new dark blue roof fitted (electric), the bonnet has been resprayed, (very well), to correct lacquer problems, the rest of the body paint is good, the wheels have been refurbished, but they are BLUE, good tyres, the black full leather sports interior is very tidy, with just a little wear on the drivers seat bolster, easily remedied. The toolkit is complete, and there is a pile of paperwork. The engine is sweet, no whines or clunks, no leaks.
The only obvious things wrong are, the front brake pads are a bit thin, the front suspension bushes got an advisory, but I couldn't move them, I'll investigate further, a couple of brake pipes have advisories, I'll replace them all with kunifer, the rear end will be refreshed in summer, even though it looks ok, but it has 116,000 miles! very little rust, just a light smattering of surface here and there, the wiper blades need replacing, the filler cap tether is broken, the headlights need a few more candlepower, It seems too good to be true, but there we are. We'll see if anything crops up when I service it.
A K&N air filter is fitted, but the original is in the boot, the car only did 1000 miles last year, the seller lost his wife and uses an other car,
Needless to say the car is now here, money has changed hands, and swimbo is at work and hasn't seen it yet, my luck could be in - or not!
When the weather improves, I'll take some pictures, and add a few details. (assuming she hasn't beaten me to death whilst I sleep).
