I applied to eccoc@bmw.co.uk asking for my cars conformity certificate and gave them my vin. They sent me an attachment duplicate at no fee.
BMW I believe do not charge for a duplicate CofC. At least the didn't when I applied at the end of last year. The application is done online, I don't have the link readily available, hopefully someone on here who has applied recently can send you that. Beware websites offering a similar service for a fee.
I checked my z3 2002 2.2 on line and it said it was already exempt , which surprised me as the road tax is high.I recently requested a certificate of conformity from BMW and having received the certificate forwarded it to the DVLA. I have heard back today and my 2001 2.2i sport has been re classified as ulez exempt. Very happy and no expense on my part!
Found it I think:So how do you notify DVLA? When looking at their website, all I can find is information about CoC for new vehicles?
I believe we have a former MOT tester resident on this forum.. Perhaps he would like to enlighten us.. I believe the M54 Unit fitted to the 2.2 and 3.0 Z3's was also fitted to early Z4s so I suspect they will be specd to the same emissions for MOT?So far, I have not done anything with my V5, I have currently requested an exemption from TfL for ULEZ and await a response. As for whether an MOT test would treat the car any different if the V5 is updated, I don't know.
From what I have learnt from this forum, the tester selects the vehicle type from the emissions machine, it doesn't have anything to do with the V5 or DVLA database. I recall one chap having a failure and it turned out to be because the tester couldn't find Z3 on his machine (apparently in a sub-menu under E36 iirc) so selected Z4 instead....Am I potentially shooting my myself in the foot by getting my V5C changed and it now might fail future MOTs on its new NOx rating whereas at the moment it will pass?
I'm afraid not. Your car was certified to an older procedure that recorded a combined HC+NOx reading so you won't see a separate record for the individual pollutants. You'd be very lucky to convince anyone that your car is ULEZ compliant based on this.I applied for my CoC for my 1998 2.8 and it came back with:
CO: 0.938
HC: 0.000
NOx: 0.000
Does that mean my Z3 is ULEZ compliant?
The emissions certification (as stated in Type approval/CoC/V5/etc.) is a totally different test to the MOT emissions test. Nobody should ever try to use the limits or results from one to give any information about the other. That's not to say that someone might try, but this would be wrong. From what I have learnt from this forum, the tester selects the vehicle type from the emissions machine, it doesn't have anything to do with the V5 or DVLA database. I recall one chap having a failure and it turned out to be because the tester couldn't find Z3 on his machine (apparently in a sub-menu under E36 iirc) so selected Z4 instead.
It would be good if someone can confirm though, as I have requested my CofC too
To fail a vehicle after knowingly selecting the test limits for a different vehicle is total incompetence.

Just to put your mind at rest I applied to have my 3.0 litre Zed registered as CAZ compliant (took less than a week for them to respond) and ULEZ compliant (took TfL over 2 months).I now have my certificate of conformity from BMW
Currently my vehicle is ulez compliant for London but not Bristol
...Am I potentially shooting my myself in the foot by getting my V5C changed and it now might fail future MOTs on its new NOx rating whereas at the moment it will pass?
