Hi guys
Am I also right in saying the si engines are also alot lighter than the standard i with the added few pony's so these are not so nose heavy and more nimble

Hello guys, sorry to hijack this thread, I still have a desire and one day will own a z4!, but which models had the 6 speed gearbox fitted and is it a better option over the 5 speed?

More available modifications for the M54 3.0 engine over the Si of that's any consideration for you. Both are great engines, and only 25hp between the two which is virtually nothing on the road.

I noticed a fast difference in the way the N52 265bhp engine distributes the power over the M54 231bhp it may only be 34hp more than the M54 but it does make a significant difference in the same way the 3.0 M54 does compared to the 2.8 M52 193bhp. But i have to agree that they are both great engines. JMHO

I've been wondering if a re-map such as Ant had done on his 2.8 might make a difference over the rev range on my car. Not that I find it lacking but having driven Ant's car it is more "torquey", like a diesel, if you see what I mean.

Rally had his M54 3.0 remapped and I couldn't shake him off my bumper on the cruise to ZedFest. Can't recall what his is putting out now, but it's certainly working for him.

From what I've seen from our recent dyno days the 3.0si is not as the marketing blurb says 265hp, even Lee's which looks to have been mapped hit 260. Mine I think was a more realistic figure at 255, which the dyno guy said would be consistent. That said the Si engine does pull incredibly well from 3k up to the red line. I'm looking forward to how high they can lift the rev limiter when I look to get mine remapped :ymdevil:

Interested to here what you find with a re-map mate. I think I'll get the number from Ant and give them a call. There is a place only about 5 miles from me at Saxilby near Lincoln who do re-maps but I haven't heard from anyone who had there car done there. Doncaster is only an hour from me so would be handy.
