I opted for the 2.0 as I wanted a 6 cylinder facelift model. Couldn't stretch to a 2.2 or 2.8 because Zed's were expensive 2 years ago... /:)

It had to be black/black/black combo, nothing else would do and just so happend that the one i found in black was the 2.8 pre-facelift, lowered, good price, Speed isnt important to me but its nice that its there if i need it, and i love the sound of the straight six.
I expect it would have been quite a bit of money a few years ago. Still havent used the cruise control :-o and nearly had him two years (beg of Feb)

I had a good look about on Auto Trader and after a while seen this Black/Black and arizona
sun combo interior. Didnt realise when i bought it that it was an individual model. I wanted
a six cylinder and quite liked the marmite look!! s:redface

3.2 gives me the horn everytime I drive it.

Amazing looks, doesn't date and performs so well.

One of the best bmw's ever made.

Would only consider changing it for ?????

Nothing s:mrgreen

I'm going to get an m5 v10 next year hopefully.

Can't resist.

Had a 1.9 before which I loved and went through lots of angst when selling her. :-s

Listening to fellow Zedders and their thoughts on the straight 6 engine at the time made my mind up to get a 2.2.

I had a yellow Honda Accord some years ago and loved the colour.

I know Dakar Yellow is a marmite colour but I love it. S:smile

Went for the 1.9 as gave up trying too find a low mileage mint condition Zed other than a 1.9 lol.

Seems the Z3M is so common, might stick with the 1.9 now s:mrgreen

Hi

We started with a black 1.9 a year after the launch
The wife fell in love with it, we had it for the weekend to try it out.
We paid what it cost new 8-| ,
As the wife was going to drive it, i didnt bother looking at the bigger engines
She started to find it diffuicult to drive the car, so i took over.
I took the car in for a service and on the forecourt was this beautiful ///M

That turned out be a very expensive Service

On my second silver Z!

The first was a 2.0 in excellent condition with low mileage, but after a while I knew that I wanted something with a bit more zip.

Bought my 3.0 from a former member on .net (Dicanio) and although it had a higher mileage of 98k was also in fantastic condition and had a great history. He had spent an absolute fortune on it including 18" Inovit DTM wheels, coilover suspension, M mirrors and gills, halo lights, stereo system etc etc. All told there must have been well over £2k of mods.

It makes me smile every time I drive it. It's a great compromise between the M that I would really love and the 2.0 that I had. It's not much more expensive to run / maintain / insure etc than the 2.0. But, it's still not an M

I started with a black M, 11 years ago :D

It was 2 years old and had 5000 miles on the clock. I had driven a bunch of Zeds and was looking for a sports car, then this showed up at sytner notts and that was it!

///M S54
I started lookin for my first ever keeper hobby car and bought a late silver S50 Z3m with a sweet engine but an unprepped dealer trade in. Spent 6 months getting it up to scratch cosmetically and loved it but the lure of an S54 was too much and when one came up for sale 8 miles from me with all the mods I wanted to do to mine already done. Even then I spend 3 weeks trying to persuade others to buy it to stop me but in the end had to have it and never looked back.

It was a bonus that it was painted from the base silver s:D

My first Z3m:

I loved the silver / blue combo as it is so unusual (most are black or red interior).

Just down the road from me is an immaculate Audi TT on an 'R' plate (I think?) Out of interest I looked on Ebay to see how much they go for and broadening the search brought up everything from Caterhams to kit cars, plus of course plenty of Zeds.

My initial aim was to get my backside into something cheap and sporty to satisfy a long standing desire for an open top having had company cars most of my life. Not being one to rush in head first I spoke to a few people who came up with all sorts of reasons why not to buy all manner of vehicles. The Zed they said would be expensive if it went wrong. L-) So I joined a .net and started reading up on the pros and cons.
At the same time a petrolhead mate of mine who races a Lotus and has had many fast Fords bought an automatic Merc convertible for his missus and persuaded me to look for something along the same lines, i.e. leather, aircon, auto roof. Basically he knew that many sports cars are ok for a quick blast but can be difficult to live with....

Whilst I only looked at two Zeds, and didn't drive one until the cash had changed hands on my 3.0l i did consider all the colour, engine size and price options. Pretty much doubled my initial budget and bought a well cared for forum members car with all the history, low mileage and of course in SILVER. :-bd
