I do like the look of pre-facelift wide body. IMO the best looking Z3. I don't see it as a problem that it's 'only' a 1.9

Agreed. Just wondering, does the 1.9 have a narrower axle, if so would fatter wheels and/ or spacers be required?

Yes it does. The rear trailing arms are slightly shorter than the 2.8.

I have a set of Z3M wheels with the deeper offset at the rear ready to go on!
