Bmw z3 running bad

Jlp, all Zeds have problems when brought, mine was cam sensor, similar issues to you. But at least you know when sorted you will have a great car, I love them.....

But you're never on your own, that is the best thing about this forum. Help is always only a couple of clicks away or in some cases only a few miles. It's the best. The Members make it so!!

Hi everybody my mechanics on with z3 now so should be sorted soon just wondering about engine if its a m43 or m44 it's registered as a 2000 x reg bmw z3 1.9 with dvla and it's def a single cam 8v but I've read on Internet that the 8v are 1.8 is this right ??

There are so many different engine variants thanks to BMW!

There is an 8v 1.9 (M43) and a 16v 1.9 (M44), and the 1.8 is also 8v (M43). It sounds like you have the 1.9 M43 engine then.

The M43B18 is 1.8 and was fitted from 1995 - 2000, the M43TUB is 1.9 and was fitted from 2001 onwards, if it has a black plastic plenum chamber it is the latter engine and a 1.9. Both engines are 8v. The M44B19 is 16v. Hope this helps.

Thanks lads it does have black plastic air intake manifold so I think like u said its the last of the 1.9 8 valve engines !

I'm quite sure u lads know your stuff just wondered when mechanic kept saying it is 1.9 is it when he plugged his obd in 1.9 is what it says on v5 so it must be

I've ordered a chiltons bmw 3 series workshop manual it said it covers z3 is that English models as well not just us version

The z3 is in the garage now as I speak finally be able to drive her hopfully when mechanics fixed it

Got car running but went for a spin nipped back to mechanics but unfortunately the water system is pressurising got it confirmed by mechanic head gasket failure !!!!gutted need to start saving up and keep my mechanic sweet.
