Yes unfortunately but I will get her back on road I'm on a mission now mechanics quoted me £500 all in so it needs to be done so i need to get it sorted car is running and can be used on short journeys because its only pressurising after about a 5 mile drive but I'm not going to take her out until fixed but nipped out last night just for ten minutes in her she drove great so that was somthing will let everyone know when she's sorted thanks.

This is why it's important to read the codes, as if there are none it highlights a mechanical failure and further more conventional investigation, it sounds like the gasket has gone between a cylinder and the water jacket, which accounts for rough running and misfires £500 is not a bad price, I assume the price includes a head skim?

Yes it does my mechanic won't do it unless the head is skimmed he said because it won't work so as with head getting done its having a new waterpump thermostat and temp sensor all other cooling parts have been changed by previous owner ie rad pipes etc etc and I may as well have a full service oil fuel filter etc as with other post electrical system has been changed its had new Bosch coil pack leads and plugs £230 plus head gasket and service it's starting costing a lot !!! It's running now but unwise to use as head gasket is failing getting money together now as soon as I have will get it sorted me thinks I should have spent a bit more money and bought a decent one .

Once you've spent the money it will be a decent one, spending more on the purchase price could have left you with the same problems and more out of pocket...

Yes I know the only reason y I'm doing it because it's only done 71000 miles and it's got bmw service history so it has been looked after for most of its life I think the lady who had it before the water pump must have gone and bust head gasket so I will have to get it sorted now
