Duncan emailed this out to everyone directly, but worthwhile copying it in to the thread!
There have been a number of Questions asked along the line and there are some details that I can now clear up.
BMW UK has asked for us to be located with them, as you know, and we think it would be good if people had something printed off about their cars in the windscreen. So that as people are passing, they can pause, read and understand why we enjoy them so much. It could be a bit of history about your individual car and why it is special to you or it may be technical data about your specific car, or model. We will leave it to the individual to decide what they would like to say but the idea is that while you are away from your car someone can get an idea why you want to be there displaying your car. Remember most of the public will have no idea if you have a 320 E30,36,46 in special colours or anything so even apparently simple information could catch someone¹s interest. It may be you got a great deal and want to let everyone know or it could be a one of a kind because of some modification or other.
Parade Lap Changes.
There has been a change with regards to the Parade lap. Some of you will be aware that I have been hoping that we could expand the entitlement for the Parade lap. When you get your tickets in the documentation you will find that because we are not filling the parade lap with the expected 400+ cars there are other cars elsewhere on the track in the same time-slot as we are. We have managed to get the agreement of the organisers that as a result of this change ALL our BMW Car will be entitled to join in the Parade lap.
As a result it is important that everyone fills in and brings with them the Silverstone Classic Tack Parade Signing-on Sheet with the correct details including all passenger names. if you need additional forms they can be downloaded from here. There are also the Track Parade Instructions and the Leaflet map, for those that need a copy, that can be downloaded from here as well.
You will see from the instructions that we will be moving from our display area to the parade assembly point 7 via the bus route and then the marshals will organise the entry onto the track from there.
Car registrations Changes
We have been approached by a few people about Car registrations Changes and these cannot be changed after the codes have closed because the data is passed over and sent for printing. So if someone has a registration plate change they have to attend the welcome centre on the day they arrive and change it for a new one. This is not a problem and several people do this each year as they change. So arrive at Silverstone, go directly to the welcome centre where there is limited temporary parking.
This information supersedes what Ian, Darren and I may have already communicated to people who have already asked. We thought that we would have to sort it somehow but there is already the procedure stated for it.
BMW CC GB Marshall's
If you have volunteered to Marshall for us for the first couple of hours to help get cars into place you will be able to get into the event from 07:00. The event itself for admission of the display cars opens at 07:30 Ian will be communicating direct with you all separately with details. (Ian will communicate directly with these people with further details).
Bringing cars on trailers
If you bring a Car on a trailer the only way to take the trailer on site is with a restocking pass which had to be requested in advance the trailer and tow vehicle, unless it is a display vehicle, has to be removed from site into the public car park area by 09:00 and is not allowed back on site till after 17:00. The public car park is free of charge. This option is now officially closed unless you have already requested it.
Hotel transferee's
Those people who have transferred from the Milton Keynes Holiday Inn Express Hotel to the Northampton Holiday Inn Express, it is important to note that for legal reasons your payment for the Milton Keynes was cancelled/refunded. Your booking at Northampton is reserved, and will not be released unless you cancel, but they have NOT taken a payment so when you arrive they will need to take payment from you.
The Crick transferee's your rebooking at Northampton took place under the normal procedure. Therefore the above note does not apply to you.
Do not Touch signs
I was asked if it would be acceptable to put "Please do not Touch" signs on the cars. I would to point out both; that this is perfectly acceptable, and that it is still the individual¹s responsibility to ensure that his/her car is not damaged by the general public. Specifically there is no insurance cover for display vehicles that is provided either by BMW CC GB or BMW UK.
Friday Arrivals post 09:30 at the event
Some people are travelling on Friday morning to arrive at the event, enjoy the Friday and then focus on the rest of the weekend. After 10:00 your admission tickets will get you into the event but the display passes ³may not² get your vehicle into the display area at the event as vehicle movements are banned after this time. However the public car park is a no cost option to store your vehicle. I have spoken with the organisers and where the 10:00 am deadline is a firm deadline for the restriction of movements on the Saturday and Sunday because there are fewer people on the Friday there is some leeway so it is worth attempting to get your car into the display area on Friday via the Dadford Road at West Entrance 3 into Gate 1 when you arrive (if that gate is closed then ask at the main entrance and show them your display pass) but please be aware that car admission will be at the discretion of the Stewards.
Saturday Entrance
The entrance route we have been asked to adopt is to come up from the South on the Dadford Rd. If the cruise was coming down the main entrance dual carriageway it would cause problems due to a significant number arriving as a block. We have ALL been asked to enter through the BMW CC GB entrance on the Saturday which is the overflow Car park number 43 for those that know. To be clear that is the Cruisers and the non cruisers should both use the dedicated BMW CC GB entrance at Car Park 43 opposite west entrance 10 on the event map.
We have been asked by the organisers because we have been allocated our own entrance routine that we all (whether cruising in or not) use the same method of entry ON the Saturday. So if you are not joining in the Cruise then please if you are coming direct down from the A43 to the main entrance of Silverstone drive past both the Dadford Rd West Entrance 3 and the main entrance (which means going over the roundabout by the main entrance then at the next roundabout where the road would become single carriageway as you go round you will see the entrance to Car Park 43 in front of you. It is not a tarmac car park it is a grass one that is the entrance that we are to use. This entrance will be open on Saturday until about 09:30 and then the staff will shut the entrance. If you are late you can try the Dadford rd West Entrance 3 but there is a possibility you may not get issued the Parade lap wristbands as the organisers will be issuing them as we enter the event through our dedicated entrance. If you are too late for the moratorium on vehicle movements and are parking in the public car park just follow the signs for that.
Saturday Cruise departure time
There have been questions about what time we have to be leaving the Hotel. Working back from the time we have been requested to be in place which is 09:00 and allowing 45 minutes for admission processing in the car park and then being shipped into the correct area. that means we need to be in the car park at 8:15 in order to do that we need to leave the hotel at 07:30 as the hotel are starting breakfast (or Coffee and Bacon Bun) for us at 06:00 this would seem to be a pretty good plan. I drove the route on the 9th July and it took me a total of 35 minutes but in a cruise it will take longer than that as although I do not expect to make it all in one long line I will try and keep us all together. Darren also drove it a couple of times, video etc, and had some fun on the route taking a little less time than I.
So that the hotel knows how many cars to expect in the hotel car park if you are planning to join in the Cruise to the event please email the hotel using the link below.
Cruise Notification Link
Darren Kindly Videoed the cruise route for us. The Gateway for the Car Club Cruise entrance is on the left as the Dadford Rd becomes Dual Carriageway just before the end of the Video.
Here is a link to the route on Google Maps Cruise Route
For those with Satellite Navigation Systems here are the Route files for a number of systems. (Thank you Darren, for generating all these files for us).
