Camera arrived today Tony, read your install thread but it looks like it's got to go in the DS3 cos the Z is undergoing some repairs. Will order another for the Z if I get on with it. Got the Voso Duel off of E Bay in the end that Aceman has, looks ok plenty of wire etc. Great thinking ref the washer tube on your install, will need to copy that where and when needed.:happy::happy: Cheers.

That was quick delivery. Once you get it installed you will be taking the card every two minutes to play it back until the novelty wears off :D

One tip is to angle the camera downwards or you will pick up a lot of sky that tends to darken the picture a little with the auto exposure. Also the rear camera if angle down picks up the number plates of cars behind better especially when they try to climb in the boot or tailgate you.

A friend of mine has recently got someone convicted of dangerous driving using this exact same camera and the police couldn't believe the quality of the images that were used in the court evidence and with both rear and front images the driver was proved to be a liar when they tried to wriggle out of it so they are literally worth 10x their weight in gold. :)

@Aceman @Rha

I have purchased the same camera as you advised earlier in the thread and its great. Only thing I have found is that the rear camera plays fine when playing on the front camera but when I take the memory card out to see the playback on the laptop then the image is reversed. Is it supposed to be like this on playback or is yours different?

I understand that when it is playing on the camera screen then it would be a mirror image as if you are looking in the rear-view mirror but then it would obviously need to be reversed on playback on the laptop etc? Is there anyway of doing this automatically?

And wouldn't you just know it? I still haven't got around to hard wiring my dash cam in my Touareg yet so I have to remember to push the plug into the cig lighter socket every time, this morning I didn't but wished I had as a very silly young girl cut me up in her black Yaris (V22 MEG), so I guess her name is Albert. This is at Carholme roundabout where you use the right hand lane for right turns ONLY, clearly signed and marked on the road surface. Left hand lane for left turns and straight on into Lincoln. Many locals do this you see the same culprits every morning including ALL taxi drivers who don't think the rules apply to them. In this instance I would have sent a copy of the "film" to the police as she made me take to the kerb, to avoid a collision, which would have been very bad had I been in my Z.:mad::mad::mad:

Memory lapses occur at the worst time. If you get a chance to get her another day turn that in.. Unless you can't use the Touareg and don't want to chance the Zed?? I'm waiting for a chance to get the Zed out. JIM

I had it trialled fitted to my perspex wind deflector. Ran the cable out of sight all the way to the bottom of the roll bar then up the front of it between the hoop and deflector so it can't be seen and then I will be sticking the camera on the rear of the deflector.

I've always found taxi drivers have the lowest driving ability of any group of drivers on the road. The ones around Newbury don't really bother with traffic laws, and traffic lights are usually ignored.

On topic... that video has come out really well considering it's dark.

Same here, they are a law to themselves.

Yes its not a bad picture considering, but the funny thing is the back one seems to work better at night ans gives more light even though the quality of the front camera is better.

Certainly a great buy as they can be picked up for around £30 now and I would definitely recommended this one to anyone. Much better than the old one I had installed and having a rear camera also is a massive bonus.

Could it be that where you mounted it that too much light is ruining the quality?? With it being good at night would lead me to investigate that! JIM

Sounds like I've installed my wireing the same way g8ka and had similar idea with the finish and like you the rain today stopped me even going out to the Z. I was toying with the idea of removing the passenger roll bar and feeding wire up through it, but the size of the little connector on the wire means the hole I'd have to drill might have some safety implications on the the bar. Not bothered if cam can be seen from behind, might keep the silly barstards from getting too close.;)
