Second Dutch driver in F1 in 2019 driving for McLaren ....

Championship leader Nyck de Vries (Koiranen GP) scored his second Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 pole of the season at Spa on Saturday morning. A member of the McLaren Young Driver Development Programme, the Dutchman posted a new lap record of 2:17.058 and will share the front row with Kevin Jörg (Josef Kaufmann Racing). Lining up right behind them will be Dennis Olsen (Prema Powerteam) and Callan O’Keeffe (ART Junior Team).

Lap times at the British Grand Prix are expected to be one second faster this season after Silverstone's resurfacing project was completed. (@BMBabe)

Valtteri Bottas says Mercedes is "not miles clear" of the field despite Lewis Hamilton's dominance at the wheel. Bottas anticipates a strong fight with Ferrari in 2018.

Britain's Lewis Hamilton expects to face a "rapid" Ferrari in Bahrain next weekend as he searches for his first win of the new season.
Hamilton has admitted his drive in Australia was geared towards trying to save his engine for another day.

Mercedes executive director Toto Wolff says the team are nearing the conclusion to contract talks with world champion Lewis Hamilton with a view to extending his stay deal beyond the end of the season.

There were only five on-track passes at the Australian Grand Prix after the order settled on the opening lap.
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen said he would have "turned off the TV" if he was a viewer watching the Australian Grand Prix last weekend.

Formula 1 sporting boss Ross Brawn says the season-opening Australian Grand Prix missed the "vital ingredient" of overtaking, and the problem cannot be fixed until the sport takes a structured approach towards rectifying it.

'Grid Girls' to make comeback as competitive racing series
Today, 08:00

The FIA will launch an all-female racing series named 'Grid Girls', GP Fans understands, in an attempt to win back many of the fans alienated by Formula 1's decision to scrap the use of models at races. The series could even become one of the support events to F1 as it tours the globe.

By Alf Priolo

Liberty Media's decision to ditch 'grid girls' in favour of 'grid kids' for 2018 was met with a mixed reception.

Though Liberty said that the move was made to "reflect societal changes", others - including former F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone - railed against a decision which they believed struck to the heart of the sport's glamorous traditions.

Although they will not be returning in their former guise, fans could once again have the chance to cheer on 'grid girls' when the series is launched in 2020.

Despite Liberty Media getting rid of grid girls for this season, Monaco has decided that it's going to use them for its race anyway.

The Monaco Grand Prix gets lots of special treatment. There’s no way it’d be allowed onto the calendar nowadays, the race runs to a shorter distance then all the others, it doesn’t have to pay a hosting fee, and the circuit still insists on using its own (awful) TV director.

Now it’s got another special exception because, despite Liberty’s decision to end the practice of using grid girls in favour of grid kids, Monaco still wants to use girls. And because Monaco is Monaco, that’s exactly what it’s getting.

The internet of course went mad for Kimi Raikkonen's little wander during Free Practice 1 in Bahrain.
14th April 2017.

Kimi Raikkonen had another day to forget when his Ferrari broke down during the first Free Practice session for the Bahrain Grand Prix 2018.

The Iceman wandering off into the desert afterwards wasn’t only a great metaphor for his season so far, it also made for some amusing reactions on social media.

Haha, spot Alonso sun bathing .... :D

The greatest F1 driver of all-time? It's been 50 years since Jim Clark lost his life in a Formula 2 race at Hockenheim.
