Don't want to sound impolite but 'rough' is a complimentary term for that car I think.

Apart from the dents all over it has a potentially serious engine issue - overheating can be simple but it can be very expensive if it had been driven while overheating...
Interesting business model these guys have selling dodgy cars in car parks!

Of course it all depends on what 'project' means to you and how much time/money you can spend to make it a good car.

You would need to be a brave guy with deep pockets to take that one on I think. My advice, keep your powder dry till something nicer comes your way.

@FRANKIE has a nice 96 1.9 z3 which I believe just needs a new clutch fitted which he intends to fix. And he was asking just a bit more money than this nightmare. New top was installed a short time ago also so may be worth looking into as shipping to NC should be fairly cheap or fly up and drive it home. Just a thought! JIM

Yeah the "few dings and dents" in the ad was an understatement.

The engine worries me the worst, it seemed like it was fixed but it's hard to judge on a car I can't drive.

I found another but it's rough. And a 4 cyl.

Couple of guys bought it "non-running" from a woman. It has overheating issues. She had the radiator rebuilt, waterpump done. They took care of the lower control arms, few other things.

The rear end has 2 dimples showing in the trunk.

Seat could be reupholstered
Body has dents and dings
Passenger seat is stuck
Shift knob is broken
Emblems faded

It did run well, shifted smooth, but could only parking lot run it since its not registered.

Could only get them to $3200

I was going to put mine up for $4500 o/b/o.. New top, just had the hood repainted because the clear coat was blistered. Really didn't want to sell it but I have a 2000 Z3 ///M I'm not using and also a 325ci I'm not using. Has 165K miles on it. Was garaged kept by previous owner. I keep a cover over it. Only drove it about 600 miles since I owned it and that includes driving it up from Maryland to Egg Harbor Township after I bought it. I can give you more details if you're interested. Frankie

Looking at ANOTHER, this one has a faded hood (bonnet) and a bad top. Looking at the pictures I think it may need a new top and not just a window.

It is a 2.8L manual, 132k, drivers seat torn, front of the car is faded. New radiator, camshaft positioning sensor. I'm not worried about the paint, but he doesn't have it's service history other than that.

What do you guys think? He is asking $3500, is somewhat negotiable.

What year is the car Matt? If it drives well and you can lower the price my opinion is that for 2.8 with only 135K miles it would be worth having.

If I were you and could buy it for $3,000 Matt, provided it drives well I think I would have it. All the things which you say require attention, although they need doing, are things which all Z's need eventually and can be done at your leisure as they don't stop you using the car. Good luck either way.

I found a 2000 2.3 w/190k. She wants $4000 for it, which is above book. I get there and it's dirty, scratched, rear bumper is out of alignment, small dent above the rear wheel on the drivers side. Tires good. Interior has the typical missing headlight switch, radio needs the code, drivers door panel is broken. Also the top doesn't work, climate control doesn't work, drivers window is off track. Also a ticking noise from the engine. I pulled the cover in the trunk and there are very very shallow divets over the rear end mounts. Water pump and belts were done when she got it.

Just got a text saying the electricals are back in working order. But the way the fuse box looked I'm think this car has gremlins.

What do you guys think? Should I make a reasonable offer? OR should I go look at the one above with a bad top first?

What is this tick? Fan clutch or engine?

Should the fuse box have these holes and a mess or unorganized wires?

If it were me Matt, the first car of the two would be my first choice.

I agree with Tony! Second car is way over priced considering the condition of everything and could become a money pit. Check out @FRANKIE as he has a nice little 96 1.9 coming up for sale. New top last year! Might be worth a road trip! JIM

Exactly why I reported Frankie's car @miller1098. And thanks HT for pointing that out, I just wanted to let Matt know that for whatever money Frankie wants it's a better car than the one' s he's viewing and will be a better bargain in the long run after all the bills are added up especially looking at the two he's posted so far. Good luck Matt. JIM
