Am no expert but I'd expect the alarm and central locking to be independent. Does the car lock with the fob with the fuse 43 removed?Hi Guys
Thanks for getting back so quickly. Sorry for sounding stupid but we have turned off the siren box do we need to take out fuse 43 again for the alarm as well or will just turning the siren off disable the alarm.we have tried locking the car with the fob and no 43 fuse removed and the car still locks and the lights fladh as though the alatm is set. Just no sound. I think we are getting ourselves confused now. Lol Tracy
I presume that the 12v feed has been removed because the fuse is pulled. It is possible that with no 12V input but the ground (negative) also removed that the alarm electronics inside are confused and the alarm goes off (even if you have turned it off with the key). It is possible that the alarm is getting power from one of the other sensor inputs. With the 12 feed removed by the fuse you shouldn't need to disconnect the negative (ground) side, only the fuse.Hi Guys
Just one final question before we put the tools away for the night.
Not understanding electrics , Should the backup alatm go off when the negative terminal is disconnected. Cliff cant understand this as he thought it would not do this.
Thanks Tracy

Hi Sorry jyst saw this reply.Am no expert but I'd expect the alarm and central locking to be independent. Does the car lock with the fob with the fuse 43 removed?
If so then it sounds like its just the power feed for the alarm. I'd leave the fuse out if the car still locks.
Fingers crossed.Hi Sorry jyst saw this reply.
Yes if we remove fuse 43 the car still locks with the fob and the lights still flash. We have finally left the car locked with no 43 removed and the siren turned off. Lets see what tomorrow brings lol
Thanks Tracy
the alarm can draw from the zke control unit. the only way forward is as Redline has described ie measure parasitic drain while removing fuses. it could be something simple like seat switch short (for some reason the passenger seats are prone to this, and as already suggested the boot light is also common, the interior lights are on a timer and will time out but the boot light is not). Now you've got me thinking - if the alarm is getting a power source via an input rather than its twelve volts it might just be that that is causing the battery drain. Removing the fuse and even the ground connection might still not solve the power drain if the alarm is sourcing power from another source. Only complete isolation of the alarm might solve it if that is what it is.
