I tried to fit in a new window several months afte I had bought it. In trying to remove the old one, it soon became obvious that the stitching holding the old half ot the zipper to the roof was shot. A further detained examination of the top showed that stitching in other parts of the roof was in poor condition. I decided to replace the entire roof myself. I didn't like the way I had fit it as it wasn't really perfect so I had it adjusted by a professional. I ended up giving the window to another forum member who was looking for one. I think he had it fitted in by someone else, but I can't remember now exactly what happened. I think it was @Connor but i could be wrong................Frankie
PS. I remember BadBoy telling me he tried and tried to fit in a new window and he ended up "launching it down the driveway"......Frankie

Yep it was me, thanks again frankie!

I did fit it with a friend and it wasn't too difficult. It was very fiddly however.

Connor.

I can't get anyone here to even attempt to fit the window for me although reading through the forum it seems that a lot of guys have managed it with a little help and patience. I think I have the original roof on my 19 year old car so maybe a new one is not a bad call.

Replacement window anyone?
I will have a 4 month old genuine oem window as fitted by @Lee at the Zed Shed which I won't need when I get a new soft top.

I had a reply from a company today that said aftermarket windows just dont fit, and need alot of messing around which just isnt worth it... obviously a few of us have found this out the hard way. I think ill be trying to return the window to the german ebay also.
@paulgjohnston have you ordered it from that company? are you going to fit it yourself or are they doing it all?

I have today visited a place in Glasgow who are going to replace my hood.

I have also, through Ebay, requested a return to the German company. They are being difficult and asking for a picture on the window actually not fitting! I told them where to go and have 4 times emailed them re a return. My issue is that the package that came from Germany was huge and that there will be difficulty in the Post Office accepting it for delivery back. I have intimated this in my emails but still only one reply. Have to wait until the 13th before I can escalate it to a claim.

I had also requested a return, i dont have any pictures of it not fitting, and i wont be trying it again to get a picture!
Would rolling it up in an old towel not work?

If you paid via PayPal, just contact eBay and complain. They ALWAYS come down on the customers side. Even contact PayPal direct and do the same thing.

New top going on 8th May - price is £700 fully fitted by a company in Glasgow. Not a job I would attempt...

If it's just the window that is split and not a damaged roof then you can have the old window taken out of a roof that has been stitched in and a new one stitched back in. It does mean that the whole roof has to come off though so for the sake of all this work you may as well have a whole new roof fitted (dependant on where you go). If you use Jack Smith in Swansea or Soft Tops in Croydon then you won't pay more than £400 for a whole new roof. These guys will replace a stitched in window for you but for the extra cost they advise you go for a new roof. I think they charge around £250 for a new stitched in window but don't quote me on that!

Jack Smith is £300 for a whole new roof (blue / black / red / green etc)
Soft Tops are £375 for a whole new roof (blue / black)
Prices as of Dec 2016
