I have a few more ideas to put into place to get things where we want them.
In answer to linking events in the calendar to the forum threads then yes this is no problem. Zed fest has so many threads though his might be an issue but if we keep in mind having a specific thread for each even in future this will be no problem at all. We just need the person who is running the event to let us know so we can update it.
Pictures, yes I we need some and I have another idea which I think will load faster so I will work on that so you can all test and let me know if it's a good or rubbish idea once I have done it
Links on the left, this is a temporary layout until I can get the latest posts feed into where the news currently is on the homepage. Once that is sorted then the useful links will all be together.
90% of visitors, once members, will go straight to the forum but if you want to see what events are coming up, for example, in a given month then it's handy to have he page to jump to. Likewise if you have an issue, a quick look in he wiki to see if the fix is there and will help draw people to the site as quality info is available in a couple of clicks.
This is all good stuff and is how he site will continue to move forward

Done some more tweaking to the front page if you can have a look please. I do know the images are all squashed at the moment but that i can fix if it's to the liking of everyone and is also quick enough to load. I don't want to spend all the time making the images right if it's not going to be used

If the pics aren't loading can you try clearing your browser cache in case it's related?
I think i mentioned when we started out that this isn't the ideal way to go about building a site but I'll keep working on it until we have it looking nice and slick

Well ok I live out in the wilderness at the back end of Glasgow with poor Internet speeds
and the site is seamless do not have to wait for any pages to load and as i say i have low speed out hear

The problem we had is that for some on slower connections the images of the cars were taking too long to load and slowing down the rest of the page down so I removed them to prove this concept. Everyone wants images on the homepage so I added this slider as it uses much smaller image files which should load quicker for those on the slower connections.
After your browser has cached the images on the first visit it will appear quick but for first time visitors it's not a good experience.
Google also ranks sites on the time it takes to load so this is important to get right so that we have the first page loading quickly.
If we go for a single image on the home page, with the current system, it will have to be manually changed each day which isn't desirable. We could use just one image but which one?
Do we ask someone to design something else that we can use that encompasses all z roadsters like the outline of the 8 series on the link?

As the picture will be on the homepage I think there should be a picture of a Z3 and a Z4, and even a Z1 as well. We have to think of any new possible members and if they see just a picture of a Z4 they may think the site is mainly for Z4's. Just a thought.

Fully agree with the Z1,3,4 new 4 & 8 pictures but still can't fine this elusive arrow.
