Will check on the mac when I get back to it ;)
No wonder I couldn't find it on my iMac - it's hidden behind some printing press thingy :-q

And just who is this Texan guy that says "Howdy"?
Can't we have Dixon of Dock Green with an "Evenin' All" or summat similar ? :-??

Yes that's the Wordpress bar which they conveniently added recently to hide anything you have at the top when logged in. It can be turned off in your profile settings. That's why I added them there as a test when playing about last night :)

Wow!
I've managed to turn off the word press bar (not too sure which click did it though) and now have a weather forecast for everywhere except here :(
However, don't worry about it
Iv'e just opened the window and it's flippin' cold outside x_x

Haha well done, it's a tick box in your profile settings on the main site but I can't remember exactly what it's called either :) I had to specify each one to display them so that's why they are random. I was thinking it might be nice to have a weather report area on the site to link to cruises but it was early hours after a long day when I thought about it.

I have some ideas for the images on the front page and when I get back I will do some work on them to to see if I can get the look I'm after. I'm thinking along the lines of a BMW look and feel so will see how much time I have to work on it and try to get something created.

OK, made a new banner for the site and before i spend hours working on it i wanted to test out the reaction. we also switched the colour scheme around to have a carbon effect as it seems to sit well with the site.

Carbon effect - really like that :-bd

Banner - like that, are you going to load the banner with pictures in some format or other?

Are we not commenting on the rest because it is a work in progress ?

Have you had much sleep i-)

Much nicer and I find the black background more relaxing on the eyes.
It would useful if you could also in increase the contrast of the small grey text against white.

Yes like the banner, will look good when photos are on it. :-bd

Is there a reason why there are 2 wide blank spaces both sides of the page, was just wondering if "forum links" or "latest posts" or "events/cruises" could be put in the blank spaces rather than having to scroll down.

Is the new logo going to be put on the homepage?

The photos are on the banner in the form of the grills of each model. More of a BMW style of doing things as have seen something similar somewhere that they did, possibly in a showroom, but it identifies each model without using a full image. these images are very lightweight so should be palatable for anyone on a slower connection. It's designed to be subtle and clean.

I think to put images on there we will need some new pictures to compliment the image we are looking for. this is an example (http://www.ukcarexports.com) of the type of imagery I would use for the site if we use images in the banners. I have found some but they are $19 each and only cover Z4's so get snapping away ;)

Attached is a full size screen shot of how it looks on my screen at a resolution of 1680x1050 and this has been tested in Opera, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox which all produce the same results. we can't go any wider as many people use 1024x768 screen resolutions or lower which would make the site spill over each side of the screen.

The rest is work in progress. I have to do it in bits in my free time so it's a bit slow going right now i'm afraid as we're really busy with projects. I think 5 hours sleep last night which was a bonus i-) and in need of some ~o) :))

James I think I speak for everyone when I say, don't kill yourself doing this and not getting a proper break and rest.

The site is very much a work in progress, but we're here and already enjoying it, the home page will be done when it's done. I know you'll probably want it to be finished yesterday but it's looking superb and everyone appreciates the time and effort you're putting in - which is all your own, but take some time to enjoy the site with us. :ymhug:

I add my comment as third fourth or 200th! I will also add that for us knowing that you are getting rest and also enjoying the site with us and doing it in slower time leaves us free to pass our comments without a conscious thought that we would rather not add to your work load. We all really enjoy the site and the banter and that we can be free to put in our 2p 1/2 worth and part of that deal is that you do not mess up your health and enjoyment etc.

We all really love where the site is already and know that we as a group are still working on it, and where the forum is going just adds to the enjoyment!

Many thanks James!

Regards

Duncan

Thanks everyone :)

I'm no stranger to long days and I do my fair share of :beer :martini in between so don't worry at all :D I wouldn't be doing it if i didn't enjoy it ;)

I start messing with the site, then have more ideas and before you know it 3 hours go by or it's 2am:D

I do want it looking respectable as soon as possible and think we're in the right direction now. I just need to get the content on the homepage tidy with the information to hand that's important to both new visitors and current members.

The rest of the content is starting to come together and is building into more of a resource which is what we wanted for you so that we can link from that area to the discussions.
