Afternoon bertiejaffa. Any idea of which route you'll be taking on said Saturday? Me and Kate were thinking of staying over so far down on Friday night. So could possibly tag along to Ross. Cheers
Hi - unfortunately Shropshire or the borders with Wales are not an areas that I am really familiar with so I was planning M6, M5, M50 but looking at the map there could be a run from Crewe, through to Whitchurch and pick up the A483 and run down that way?? Does anyone have any better idea of nice roads ?
If you're determined to avoid M6, 5 and 50 There's the 'old road'. From ellesmere port all the way to newport via shrewsbury, hereford, Abergavenny etc. Come down as far as abergavenny. Just south of abergavenny is a big roundabout. From that roundabout strike off eastward towards ross on wye.
Many years ago I used to do that road regular in a HGV. Was nights with a light load so I was going pretty quick (for a truck). Took me about 2.75hrs from Abergavenny to ellesmere port vauxhall factory.

If I was coming from the M6 - M56 and had time to kill I'd go this way, (I have many times in fact) its a mixed bag but a pleasant run straight to the PI at Ross on Wye. 3hrs 20 from the start of the M56
If you have a Tom Tom and a mydrive account you can send this route straight to your device, or save as a file to your laptop and add to your device other devices can also be used as long as you choose the correct file in "save as"

Ok so Ive looked at the route and spoke with Paz (Mark Parrish) and we have amended slighty so for the drive down. The plan is to meet at Sandbach Services South at 12 o'clock and then drive across through Nantwich, Whitchurch, Ellesmere and pick up Nialls run at Oswestry...

OK folks I am doing another dry run this Sunday just to make sure the Highways dept hasn't screwed my route up 
So as soon as I am happy I will post the satnav routes links on here, I will hand out the written route on the day BUT I encourage you all to use the satnav routes if you are able.
