What are the main differences between and Alpina Roadster and a Z4M Roadster?

Mate your car looks sweet,it made me look at prices of Z4M .I like the darker colours on z4.Did you consider the coupe?
Thanks.

No I never considered a coupe. I'm a huge fan of open top motoring and the Z4M roadster ticked all the boxes I was looking for. The coupe is a much rarer beast and so more expensive and I was looking for something that I could take on the occasional track day. I didn't want mega expensive to do that with. You get a lot of horses for your money with an M and also a lovely controllable car that drifts wonderfully. It also allows me to have a sunny daily driver which I can take to the supermarket or park anywhere without the worries that go with parking the Z8.

I bought it in the winter and got what I consider a bargain for a sub 20k mileage car. It is a cracking little motor, and I can happily recommend it. I think they're under valued for the performance coupled with use ability they give. It's light agile and very quick.

:)

Nice car. I don't think we'd look like twins.... ever! I model myself more on Al Murray!!!

Every bone in my body wants me to buy soft top cars at this time of year, but I always buy in winter and usually privately. Privately what you see is usually what you get. Look in the background of the photos to see what type of person owns the car and how they live. From garages they can be tarted to look what they are not. I travelled miles to look at an Alpina from a very reputable garage. It was described as immaculate. The outside and inside told different stories. It was a car from near London and I suspect had been used to commute. Good body work but hours and hours of driving time. Where we live a 10 mile trip is 15 minutes. In London it can be 2 hours. Thats an awful lot more wear on an interior.

I tend to decide what car I want and then get a little OCD about checking the ads. The guy I bought the Z4M from had it advertised for about an hour before I sent him the deposit! Good cars correctly priced go very quickly. If you're serious about owning one don't be in a rush. Bide your time and get a nice one. There is always a garage queen somewhere just need to search.

My favourite has gone now, It was a bronze with a beige interior... lovely

Have fun looking. I really enjoy the search.

:)

I know what you mean about soft top cars ,I tend to live half my life fantasising about driving the car and only a small part actually driving it and much of the pleasure is getting the top off.Driving the Alps with your top off is the only way to do it.But the z3 is so much fun on those alpine roads, really get the feel of driving and not overly engineered remotenes that some newer cars give, and it's an adventure driving in a slightly older car.Would I drive an m car to the alps? The thought of a pristine example is tempting ,but I'm not good at enjoying keeping it nice. I like the shape of the coupe although the darker coulour hides the potbelly look of theZ4 roadster and I might get more use out of the coupe if I don't use the m for touring.im still confused I think.

I always think that I wouldn't take a nice car out on a rainy day and so a roof down experience is the way to go.

Go and try the cars somewhere to see if you'd like it. That's the best way to go.

Coupes fetch a premium because of the rarity and so if you're not going to keep the miles down and the car tidy it'll lose a lot of the value.

I think the 4 is a really pretty car in either form. But obviously whichever is your poison is your choice.

Just love the openness and the wind. Even with a helmet on at a track it just gives you an "Alive" feeling. That's a buzz.

Would I drive the car through the Alps?.... Absolutely love to! It would be a complete joy.

Just a note to PerryGun - yes my Alpina is #135 and I am not a MAN - my name is Denise, Ningo is my nickname. Interesting write ups above, although I knew a lot of this already always learning stuff about these lovely cars....

Not really, sorry to be dull, my sister started calling me that when we were kids - we never knew why - but it stuck.

Please accept my apologies, I assure you that it's a mistake that I'd be unlikely to make should we ever meet in person....

Should you be interested I have scanned copies of lots of the original magazine reviews of the Alpina RS

Never judge a car on a photo.

It hides all blemishes.

Also don't trust a anyone who says a car is immaculate (unless you have seen it in the metal)
