Roll bars are not a testable item, whereas Air Bags are.So what is the scenario with an MOT when a Z3 has had it's airbags removed, roll over hoops removed, etc, etc?
Interested for obvious reasons!
Tony.

I think the details that come up on the PNC are more than just colour.Hence my point about colour!
Tony.
I am now very confused. The rebodies I have seen ALL have the airbags removed (you have to), so how do they get MOTd?Roll bars are not a testable item, whereas Air Bags are.
Tony.
What does ESQ mean. 507ESQThis is what I chose
esq means 'like', or similar to. So 507-like.What does ESQ mean. 507ESQ
Testable items. Is that only if they exist? If the wheel has been changed for one that doesn't have an airbag and the dash warning light disabled then is it a fail?Roll bars are not a testable item, whereas Air Bags are.
Tony.
It’s how the kit was described when purchased and first advertised. What does ESQ mean. 507ESQ
It should be.Testable items. Is that only if they exist? If the wheel has been changed for one that doesn't have an airbag and the dash warning light disabled then is it a fail?
You refit the original steering wheel for the mot.I am now very confused. The rebodies I have seen ALL have the airbags removed (you have to), so how do they get MOTd?
But the later Z3s (as far as I know) also had side airbags. A bit more difficult changing the whole interior for the MOT?You refit the original steering wheel for the mot.
Then switch back afterwards.
It’s like having black and silver number plates all year, but yellow and white on test day, (so I’ve been told )
I don't think the MOT has colour on the database.Tony is the man to ask.
My MOT tester said that if my 250 was registered as a BMW Z3 it would fail on missing airbag. However as. Tribute California he could pass it as there
was no information on wether or not it should have an air bag. Grey area maybes and some testers may not be so helpful.
side airbags, passenger air bag and roll over hoops can be removed. It’s a bit like your spare wheel, if it is in the car it must have legal tread, if it’s stored in your garage it can be bald.
I believe an MOT tester is able to change the color of a car during an MOT test, again one from Tony.
C'mon. . I've been sat here with my fingers in my ears for over an hour humming that tune.Just like Mission Impossible, this post will self-destruct in three seconds
Dave. You said "It wasn't what you asked for".Mine is registered as Make: BMW Model: Tribute Kobra. It wasn't what I asked for but contacting the DVLA has a an essence of lottery about it...
I have gone through 3 MOTs so far and the lack of steering or passengers airbag hasn't phased three different testers as it is 'not' a Z3 on the V5 or MOT dbase. As I have a new dash there is not warning light to test either. My last tester made a note of mileage before changing dash as its now only on 1000 miles is.
And yes I realise the risks of removing airbags and roll hoops and willing to take them. I drive like a milkman so not worried about the speed I'm carrying into corners etc.
Mine had colour change on respray so did that V5 change on another time and was very straightforward
