Why do you have to open up the holes in the roll bar cover ? Looked at the brackets and can’t see what that is for. I did by the way understand your explanation.

Do you put a spacer in the hole to stop the cover squashing

No mate, if you don't open out the holes in the plastic the self tapping screws will bite into the plastic then the steel. What that will do is pull the plastic in towards the steel hoop and make a "dent" in the plastic which will look unsightly and could even crack the plastic cover.

Only just bigger than the self tapper is enough, so it will pass through without touching.

Now I’m having a problem finding the 4 small fixings for the boot to fit the boot brackets. Any idea where I can purchase these from. Been to BMW they are checking it out but not got back to me yet. They don’t show up on their parts diagrams.

No I have all the brackets. It’s just the little push in plugs I need. It’s what the screws screw into.

they are called speed nut! part J on the retrofit instructions! (page 3 lists the items and page 8 showing them inserted in the boot gaps)
