The biggest 13 laps of Max Chilton's racing career? His best finish at the Indy 500 is seventh. He is in prime position to win it today.

This Indy 500 malarkey is what you get if you cross F1 with a Demolition Derby.

Just seen the Scott Dixon crash - how he got out of that car goodness only knows. It's a testament to the strength of the cars today.

Well it's testament to the strength of the driver's survival cell at any rate. He's has used 2 of his 9 lives this week. having been robbed at gunpoint while out getting food from a drive thru earlier in the week. Must've been new under wear required though.

Tony.

True, but in F1 Alonso knows he has no freaking chance Mike, but in the lottery of a roundy roundy race he at least has some chance, shame it was the poxy Honda engine which let him down .............. again.:( Shame JB had the same type of luck too.

only just watched Monaco, I think it is more of an event you need to be at to really get the benefit. It is more than just a race.

As for Indy, I should have watched it I guess, just to see how Pippa Mann got on. she's a friend of a friend and grew up a few miles down the road, so really deserves the support. Bonus as she finished, which means she is placed higher than Alonso! Go Pippa! :racecar:

Been there once, you are going to the circus and it is bloody well a bloody expensive one.
Went to Spar as well but that was  as we had VIP Tickets.
To be honest, you cant follow bugger all and end up watching the big screens, might as well be at home watching on your TV.

That is probably why the Yanks do it, so that the public can see the whole track, still boring as hell though....
Like most American sports it's entirely about power and strategy but has to be simple to watch assuming a near zero attention span. Put a proper racing driver in those cars and they stand out.

It looks "easy" but I bet you have to be brave enough to do those speeds so close to the walls and each other. Dixon was a lucky man on Sunday. Just a different kind of racing is all. Not for me.

All UK built cars though (bodies), which is nice :D Agreed, just different. F1 is more of a technical sport with everything designed to the absolute limit that technology has to offer and driven by the best drivers in the single seat World. Montoya "nothing drives like and F1 car".

"One of the best experiences of my career"

Fernando Alonso after retiring from the race on lap 175: "I felt the noise and the engine friction so i backed off. It's a shame because I felt we deserved to finish and experience the last lap - who knows where we could have finished".

"The whole thing has been a nice experience. The racing was fun and I am glad to been here with the best racers in the business".

"It's early (to decide if he comes back) but I feel competitive and if I come back I will feel like I know what to expect so will use that next time".

"Thanks to Indycar because this has been one of the best experiences of my career."

Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen turned the tables on Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton to set the pace in second practice at the Canadian Grand Prix.

The Finn was 0.215 seconds clear of Hamilton, fastest in the first session, and 0.265secs quicker than team-mate and title leader Sebastian Vettel.

Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas was fourth quickest, 0.11secs slower than Vettel.

Fernando Alonso, back after racing in the Indianapolis 500, was seventh after more Honda engine problems.
