I only asked as this is the only empty space in my 'toolbox', and I often wondered what went in there, never seen one before. Is this a tool/socket that would be supplied with all models or just the 6 cylinder models ?

I think it was just the 6 pots. It was missing from my 1.9 but I got one just to fill up the hole in the toolkit

Today is going to be a busy day, so made a prebreakfast start in the ‘lean-to’

And what a joy to strip an assembly down where everything came undone so easily. The Trailing Arm is really good and given me lots of reusable parts.

Brake cable was chewed up on the handbrake end so binned it. Not a problem already have two on order. And the back plate had a small dent in the top.....probably happened in transit, but easy to put back into shape.

Then thought I would remove the bushes......just copied what I saw Lee do on the old arms ( before he decided to bin them :arghh: )

So cut off the rubber from the larger end...a bit of 10mm studding , washers, nuts and a couple of sockets...a squirt of WD40......and extracted them...

The only problem I had was the socket wasn't deep enough, ( internally there is a shoulder half way down the socket) and as I didn’t want to use a hammer to knock them out, I just took off the extractor and hacksawed off the half that was through and put the extractor back on and pulled the rest out.
It was so easy ......hope putting the new ones in is as simple.....

All ready for Saturday now....( Lee can get the hub off and the bearing out =))) ......or let me loose on his extractor set:whistle:

Post turned up with a few bits.....

Sopers sent me one nut in a jiffy bag with a copy of the complete invoice ........I hope there a big box on its way or that is a very expensive nut!!!!
Brake line and fittings , and the flaring tool, which is ok and fairly simple to use. ( it looks idiot proof so I should be alright)
A Hermes delivery is due this morning at some point.( another one of the brake line tools , but not sure which one).....I have a solicitors meeting at 1.00pm, ( hopefully won’t be too long)
Then I need to collect some parts from the Local Dealer in Rustington, ( thats just an excuse to take the 1.9 out for a run )

Then try and get back in the garage later today to get a bit more done.......

Oh and Autodoc got in touch and want me to supply them details ........which I have already done.....but this time they would like pictures🤬

After a bad start to the day.....got worse in the form of a neurology appointment at the hospital.......one of the tests was putting sensor pads on my ankles then zapping me with electricity to see if they could get readings.....yes they bloody did.....painful or what !!!! I think the consultants last job was on Death Ro

That is shocking Mazza.

Plead guilty, you will get out earlier....

Regards putting the bushes back in, apply grease to both the bush and the holes in the arms.
I did it to just the bush on my first one, and it was a lot harder to fit that the other 3 where I greased both parts.

This little tool turned up today as well.....its a mini pipe bender that does 3mm, 4mm and 6mm ( 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4).
F8F1BB2A-CC48-40D6-9277-0266F5A6048C.jpeg

I have tried it on the old brake pipe, and its works really well and can make composite tight bends. I will practice a while before I make the ones to go on the car but I reckon I should be able to get them close to the original shape.

Just waiting for a mini pipe cutter to arrive , then I can have a play.
