Snap, got the same tool, stocked up with copper and fittings + the tool before I started on the rear brake hose replacements in braided stainless HEL hoses. Thought I was going to find some solid pipes would need renewing but joy of joy they were still in good order just needed cleaning and painting. The two hoses and the small solid pipe between them had seen better days, rubber hard and the ferrals were really rusty under the plastic guide they passed through on the trailing arm. Didn't get a chance to use the bending tool on this occassion.

My manual benders are comming up to 68 years old and wearing out with the onset of Dupuytrens contracture which causes hands and digits to lock up when doing manual work, really annoying so any tools that assist with doing jobs is a must these days.

Today received the pipe cutter......smaller than it looked in the picture.... o_O
9DBBB282-29EC-4579-B5AD-FD8B8CF521BE.jpeg

But...it does work and leaves a clean cut.....takes a bit of time though, as I didnt want to put too much pressure on the pipe each time.....

Then a sort out of all the parts in to their ‘ where used ‘ assemblies and checked all the parts off against the invoice.
0A4F09FA-5380-4FAD-A207-05BA3B21776B.jpeg

Three bits missing !!!! And checking them against the original estimate list, they were the three items Sopers had in stock already....so a quick email to Liam in spares, and they forgot to pick them =)), but sorted straight away and will be with me in the morning.
The empty box is for all the bits I need to sort out and take on saturday.....I’m bound to forget something:arghh:

Had an email from Autodoc...re the shaft nuts being too big, and they are going to credit me £4.00. They confirmed the bearings and the circlip are the correct ones .........( I will find that out on Saturday at ZSHQ )

Bit of painting , to clean up the drive shafts....
ACC698EF-B42D-4544-AD9E-48BEC75B50D4.jpeg

Bit of electric wire brushing on the trailing arm / diff bolts
7A166DEA-8AB1-4950-87B2-0253EFC22219.jpeg

And a bit of a tidy up, sorting out and the identification of all the fixings and small bits removed so far......while I can remember !!!! And binning all the old ones that I have bought replacements for.
0AEBD1AE-FA75-4F8D-B9BF-A689B5BCE156.jpeg

And I managed to bend the old N/S brake pipe into more or less the right shape to use as a template for when I bend the new pipe.. I used the opposite hand from the new trailing arm as a mirror image to work out the shape.

I was getting a pile of stuff in the front garden of scrap metal parts......but a transit pick up stopped and a guy said he would take it if it was all rubbish.....so he took the lot.
And I said If I leave any thing else in the same place he is welcome to take it.....
:) Saves me having to get rid of it all:thumbsup: But I think I will move the 1.9 back a bit just in case =))

I tried to unscrew the aerial just to get it out of the way.........ooops!!!
0677C4A4-32AC-4DFB-A305-3CA7959D1F92.jpeg

Bloody thing was seized solid, ...........ANDY !!!!!!!!! (As in @spurs fan in a coupe ) Just found something else I need !!!

But I do have a new grommet :)

Thats as far as I went today, as this afternoon was a bit cold and wet.......

If you can get the whip mast out you may be able to solder a thin wire back in there, managed to fix mine when mine gave up

This morning was an early start.... Tescos shopping at 6 am......nothing in fridge and no beers =))

Then a bit later on got out to the garage to start stripping more stuff off......

Front end ......why? ......... Because there’s nothing left of the back end to remove

Someone has had some of the bolts off as they were greased and came apart really easily......but others were more stubborn, but didn't stand a chance against the ‘ super sockets’.........well, all except for a ABS sensor bolt...that decided to shear off:arghh:......another task to do!!!!

Right .....I have the tools, and a rough idea.....

Hopefully Topaz blue ....but not a problem if not.

But all this work today means I can take it all up to ZSHQ tomorrow.......and get the springs off, the hubs separated , and everything can then be shot blasted and powder coated with the trailing arm.

The missing parts from Sopers arrived this morning as promised, so all orders now complete.

I had a letter today from Parcelforce asking for payment. The import duty on the Trailing arm.

I’m glad I phoned them last monday and paid it over the phone, or it would have still been waiting for it !!

But I am intrigued how they made up the payment....

Well a Blue 2.8 arrived today , as in Wheeler Dealer tradition, on a trailer!!!!
View attachment 173865

This seem a good idea when I saw it advertised, and what it had failed its MOT on didnt seem too daunting....

View attachment 173863

But ....not good !!!
Far more going on with it than I was led to believe :arghh:

So....initial plan of action.....go through it all and get a list of what needs doing to bring it up to a decent standard....and then decide if Its worth it.
Some of the problems are just labour hopefully, like removing the interior to get the carpets out.....a bit a wetness there judging by the musty smell........... but I think I better get Andy, Adrian and Robert on speed dial !!! As there are quite a few bits that I think I will need.
Better set up RealOem on the Ipad for this car too.

Engine looks clean, and cant see any evidence of any accident damage. Needs new sills, and possibly rear wings.....exhaust is noisy, but don't know where from yet.

Main concern is the engine management light ......although I suppose it could just be a sensor not working or disconnected??????

Roof would need to be replaced, and would get a blue one if I do.
Seats aren’t too bad, passenger seat works ok, drivers one goes back and forward but not up and down......sounds like the drive shaft is rattling and not connected??

The silver one wont be happy about being kept outside now.......but I have bought a storm cover to keep it dry=))

First thing I have to work out is how to get the bloody electric roof down......never had one before!!!!
Hi new member, just bought a 99 1.9. I live in Bognor Regis as well, I know very little about these cars and wonders if we could meet for a chat sometime soon. My number is 07790573231 thanks Nick
