Yesterday evening saw me and Shirl in the oil burner visiting @Simon ireland to purchase a set of refurbed alloys complete with a set of new Budget tyres. I discovered 2 cracks in my N/S/R wheel a few weeks ago and 1 new rim from BMW would've been over £700 inc. Vat. so this set of wheels & tyres was, to me, a no brainer.
So this morning armed with a product I bought from a Target store,

I set about applying 2 coats over the "new" wheels, insides and out.

They came with brand new centre caps which just needed a colour change.

Three laps of insulting tape makes them a better fit and less easy to remove (I discovered this many years ago when I had my Z3),
This is the 1st of the rear wheels done ready for fitting. @andyglym please note correct alignment of valves, centre caps and ///M badges. and "go faster" valve caps!;)

And the 1st of the front ones also ready for fitting.

And the full set.

After fitting, where I fitted a pair of 20mm spacers on the rear and switched the previously fitted 12mm ones from the rear to the fronts.

Later, out in the rain. I'm not 100% sure about the wheel bolt caps yet (I wasn't on the previous wheels if I'm honest) but they need something as the front and rear extended bolts have different heads. If not Red then maybe Gloss Black or Bright Silver/Chrome?

Really pleased with the outcome.

Tony.

ps. I have a couple of other things in the pipeline too.
Always good to get some mercy from @Simon ireland

Latest addition to my Ryobi tools collection.

I had thought about buying this from a Home Depot store but they are stupid money over there, almost twice the price.

Carrying on the Ryobi theme I "road tested" the power cleaner which I bought from HD. Using a 10ltr bucket I used about half cleaning the wheels on the oil burner.

As I had been out in the Z earlier and got caught in the rain it was a bit loppy, so I rinsed it all over too. Total 15 ltr of water and 1 bar on a 5ah battery.

I think it will be very useful in the winter, even just for washing salt off.

My Mum has them wheels on her 1 series, they are a very nice wheel probably one of my favourite BMW designs. They are super easy to clean (not that she knows!) and are super easy to kurb as well (something she does know!).

I had to do the same on my badges to get them to fit nice and tight. Works well if you have a broken tab or two as well.

They look great on your Zed, just needs lowering a touch now I reckon

Having been using my power cleaner yesterday I thought I should find it a permanent home. So that is what I did this afternoon.

Power washer and compressor back in their places and pressure bleeder too in it's "just in case" bucket.

A place for everything and everything in it's place!
Then you'll know where it is when you need it next. Oil burner for test at 10.00 tomorrow then find/make a home for this.

I had some black vinyl left over from the E85 sill decals, so I decided to see what they would look like on this car, 1 down 1 to go.

I'll get the other side done and take some outside pictures.

And btw, this could be red also… just saying.
I don't have any red vinyl, so I was stuck really. I only have the Zper4mance decals (my own creation btw) in white also.

It looked good, I thought, on my old E85 but I wasn’t sure on the E89 till I did it.
